The name o Singuilucan haes been erroneously gien as "lugar de lodo o de mucho lodo" (place o silt or ower hintle mud), that in Nahuatl wad be Zoquilocan. But the pre-Columbie glyph for this toun clearly shaws a hill wi quelites (quilitl means green herbs, tzintli in Nahuatl) growin at its base. It shaws a blade o a knife an aw, alludin tae the obsidian blade industry o Teotihuacan, whilk wis based in this aurie, as weel as thare is naurhaun "El Cerro de las Navajas" ("hill o the knives").
Sae the correct translation o Singuilucan is tzinquilocan, "the place at the base o the muntain o quelites".[2]
