Etymologie

It wis foondit on 24 Juin 1701 bi Caiptain Salvador Felix Arias Pereira wi the name o Villa o San Juan Bautista, ower Munt Yiyirigak bi the Cesar River. Arias-Pereira wis in a mission to "pacifee" the indigenous tribes in rebellion; the Tupes, Coyaimas, Conopans an Marocazos.[3]
