The Municipality o Cerkno (Slovene: Občina Cerkno) is a municipality in the Littoral region o Slovenie.[2] The seat o the municipality is the toun o Cerkno. The municipality haes aroond 5,000 fowk.

Efter the end o Warld War I, the aurie wis occupee'd bi the Italian Airmy, an then offeecially annexed tae Italy in 1920. Atween 1920 an 1943, it wis pairt o the admeenistrative region kent as the Julian Mairch. Efter the Italian airmistice in September 1943, Cerkno wis leeberatit bi the Yugoslav Pairtisans an the region became ane o the maist important centres o Pairtisan resistance in the Slovene Littoral. In 1945, the aurie came unner Yugoslav militar admeenistration, an in 1947 it wis offeecially annexed tae the Socialist Republic o Slovenie athin the Socialist Federal Republic o Yugoslavie.
