Accept every way your customers want to pay.
• Credit card payments: Accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and rewards cards — all credit cards at the same rate. Take credit card payments over the phone using your computer as a virtual point of sale terminal.
• Contactless payments: Let customers pay with Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Cash App Pay. Accept contactless cards and digital wallets with Tap to Pay.
• Gift cards: Differentiate payment with gift cards integrated into your POS system and Square Dashboard.
• Invoices: Send custom invoices straight from your POS on a mobile device or from your laptop right to your customers’ inboxes with the Square Point of Sale app.
• Transfers: Access funds after a sale with Square Checking, transfer funds to your external bank account instantly for a fee, or get transfers free in one to two business days.
• Refunds: Process refunds for payments directly from your POS system or your online Square Dashboard.
2.6% +10¢ PER TAP, DIP, SCAN, OR SWIPE. Charge $100 in a single transaction and see $97.30 in your bank account. Accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express, all credit cards at the same rate. Invoices are free to send and cost 2.9% + 30¢ per invoice paid online.

Checkout
Customize your checkout with item categories, modifiers, add-ons, or special requests to keep your line moving and your customers happy.

• Use Register or wirelessly connect Terminal to any device running your Square POS. With a separate checkout screen, customers can see their itemized cart and pay quickly, all from a safe distance.

• Refund specific items from a transaction. The amount being refunded will reflect any applicable taxes and discounts for the selected item(s).

Transactions
• Accept swiped card payments when your internet service is temporarily unavailable. Offline payments are processed automatically when your device regains connectivity and will expire if not processed within 72 hours.
• Take contactless payments via Tap to Pay.
• Provide customers with digital or printed receipts.
• Let your customers split a bill or use multiple forms of tender to complete payment.

Crashes too often, Bluetooth connectivity doesn't hold, automatically closes if it's minimized. All of these could probably be solved if it didn't close itself out while not in use. This happens on mobile after about 5-10 minutes of not being used. Other apps continue to run in the background, but square does not. Perhaps a permission to opt in for running in the background to hold a connection and last transaction created?

Thank you for sharing your feedback. The Square Reader automatically goes into sleep mode after 2 hours if not in use, to conserve the battery. I've been using for years and the latest versions have been super buggy. The reader constantly loses connection and can only reconnect if the app is closed and reopened. Even if my phone is near it. Sometimes the amount from the previous transaction will still be displayed and can't be deleted. I use it for several hours at a time and I'm having to restart the app a dozen times each hour when things are busy. These are ongoing issues with multiple phones.

It's good when it works. But it loses connection every ten mins or so and I have to re-open the app when I make a sale. It wasn't always like this, and I have even upgraded phones and still experience this. It would be awesome if you could connect through hardwire to your phone so you don't have to fight with Bluetooth.
