Content lost after translation at euwiki
Closed, ResolvedPublicBUG REPORT

Description

List of steps to reproduce (step by step, including full links if applicable):

  • User Oihana.Aristi at euwiki has reported that it has been some days that she can't access her translation for Theory of colors.

irudia.png (768×1 px, 201 KB)

  • AFAIK, for an external user, it is impossible to read other user's translations, so I can't help her with the issue, but there may be an option to access lost translations.

What happens?: The user can't access previously translated text at ContenTranslation

What should have happened instead?: it should load

Software version (if not a Wikimedia wiki), browser information, screenshots, other information, etc.:

There is an article about David Hume in eu.wikipedia.org since 2007 or so - https://eu.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Hume - I am curious whether the CX suggested translation of this or warnings about existing article is not shown to the users or not.

As per CX database, we see that there is a translation from es to eu started on April 4 and updated on April 12. As per our debugger, we also see that your translation is in our database and not lost.

From the screenshot, I see that the source article is not loaded in the interface. The translation is loaded only after the source article is loaded. So this is mostly an issue related to source article not loaded.

This could be because of a js error at client side that can be verified by looking at browser console. Or it could be a temporary technical glitch and a retry can help

Can you please ask User:Loiuriz if the problem persists? Also please inform that the David Hume article is present in eu.wikipedia.org already

As per our records, the translation from en to es for Theory of Colours exist

And the draft translation also exist in our database as per our debugger tool

Can you please ask Oihana.Aristi if the problem persists?

The problem persists, and they have tried from 3 different computers, so it doesn't seem a js problem.

Tried this particular "Theory of color" article from English to Euskara and now I am unable to reproduce this issue. The ongoing translation pages are loading.

Tested this both in Chrome and Firefox browser

Yes, usually there is no problem, and we translate from en to eu regularly. But these two students had this issue, and they couldn't retrieve their translation for publication.

@Theklan thanks for the quick response. For now we can go ahead to close this. Please I'll indulge you to reopen another ticket should you observe this behavior
