I can't speek Russian but if I look at symbols, I can see three agree votes and four oppose votes. I don't really think that we should deploy something that has only 42 % support.

If I'm not right, please add symbols to every vote so I can check the consensus. I also recommend moving votes into Voting section (preferable named in English so I can find it easily) for better checking. Thanks.

Please let the Wikidata team deal with this deployment

@Addshore Ok, I saw Wikimedia-Site-requests tag. But still no consensus I think ;)

I think you can use Google to translate it. There are 10 support votes and 3 oppose votes for the extension.

And the main discussion about whether to use of links to those pages in the main namespace or not.

@Lucie says we are probably not ready yet for a big wiki like ruwp with the next deployment. I'lll discuss with her what is missing in the next days to see what we can do to get it to you soon.

@putnik could you provide a link to the archived discussion? (to see if consensus was met)

Lydia_Pintscher raised the priority of this task from Low to High.Sep 8 2016, 7:13 PM

Sorry all for the spam caused by adding & removing this task from Wikimedia-site-requests. I was trying to get a list of wikis where this extension has been/is planned to be enabled, and I came up with this query, which suggested that the combination of Wikimedia-site-requests and ArticlePlaceholder was the right way to get this information. Please let me know if such a list is being maintained elsewhere.

Lydia_Pintscher added a subscriber: hoo.

Currently only ruwiki has been asking for it in addition.

Marking this as stalled. We can't enable it until @hoo gives his ok for performance which we still need to improve.

We've made some progress by adding caching but I'd like to us to roll it out further on more small and medium size Wikipedias first before we go for Russian Wikipedia. I'm really sorry about this but the risk is still too high. It's really great that you want to have it.

Is there a chance that this will be done in the near future?

I fear the performance issues have not been addressed yet and realistically we can't fix them soon :(

@Lydia_Pintscher: Is/are there specific performance issue tasks that this ticket should be blocked on? (There should be, because otherwise there is no way for anyone to realize when fulfilling this task might ever become possible, and nobody can theoretically help fixing problems as problems are vague.)

Someone please do so and follow up (see previous comment). Tasks shouldn't be stalled for many years. Thanks!

@hoo Could you create the necessary tickets?

Aklapper lowered the priority of this task from High to Low.Jan 20 2022, 6:14 PM

@Lydia_Pintscher: After 5 years this doesn't look like high priority to me...

Is there any progress on the task? Have the performance problems been resolved?
