Education/News/August 2021/Workshop for the Teachers from Poland
Author: Klara Sielicka-Baryłka (WMPL) (talk)
Summary: We did it! The first-ever live meeting organized by the Wikimedia Polska Education team for teachers who were mostly involved in Wiki-school program has taken place on the 11th of August 2021 in Warsaw.
The teachers who came to Warsaw on this hot summer day, are strongly involved in changing education in Poland: some of them work with us in the Wiki-school program, some of them are observing, supporting, the Polish Teacher of the Year 2017 has come! They are all actively looking for ways to make learning and teaching meaningful and interesting.
As part of the meeting, the Wikimedia trainer and specialist Wioletta Matusiak conducted a workshop entitled "What can you take out of the museum?" based on the design thinking method. It was a kind of pilot phase to the Wikimedia Polska`s plan of development of a museum wiki-education program, with particular emphasis on the role and potential of Open Resources and digital culture in teaching & learning.
The whole event took place in cooperation with the National Museum in Warsaw, whose education team received us wonderfully. We received, among others free tickets to the exhibition, a very interesting group tour of the Faras Gallery (see also our previous common project with this museum: here, and here), there was also an opportunity to talk to Education Department employees about education in the museum.
During the lunch we could talk about everything, getting to know each other better and when the time for the afternoon`s lemonade & eclairs (so decorative and so delicious) has come, we felt like we had been working together for years!
