Marking International Digital Preservation Day
To celebrate the first International Digital Preservation Day, Wikimedia Community Ireland partnered with the Digital Repository of Ireland and the Library of Trinity College Dublin to provide a day of events on 30 November 2017.
An editing workshop was held in the Library of Trinity College, led by Rebecca O'Neill, specifically aimed at digital preservation practitioners focusing on pages around the theme of digital preservation. To compliment the editing event, a pop-up Museum of Technology was curated by staff from Trinity College, displaying an array of computers and digital storage devices from the late 1970s to the present day. The editing workshop saw participation from 16 editors working on a variety of subjects.
The day concluded with a public lecture entitled Digital Cultural Heritage and the Limits of Preservation.
