Courteney Bass Cox (lahir 15 Jun 1964)[1][2] ialah seorang pelakon, penerbit, dan pengarah Amerika Syarikat. Beliau terkenal dengan peranannya sebagai Monica Geller di sitkom NBC Friends, Gale Weathers dalam siri seram Scream, dan Jules Cobb di sitcom ABC/ TBS Cougar Town, di mana beliau memperoleh pencalonan Golden Globe yang pertama. Cox juga membintangi siri Dirt di FX. Beliau memiliki syarikat penerbitan, yang disebut Coquette Productions, yang dicipta oleh Cox dan suaminya David Arquette. Kehidupan awal
[sunting | sunting sumber]Cox dilahirkan dan dibesarkan di Birmingham, Alabama.[1][3] Beliau ialah anak perempuan ahli perniagaan Richard Lewis Cox dan Courteney Copeland (née Bass).[4][5] Cox mempunyai dua kakak sulungnya, Virginia dan Dorothy, dan seorang abang sulung, Richard Jr. Ibu bapanya bercerai pada tahun 1974 dan ibunya kemudian berkahwin dengan ahli perniagaan Hunter Copeland (paman kepada promoter muzik dan pengurus perniagaan Ian Copeland dan pemain dram The Police Stewart Copeland).[6] Selepas menamatkan pengajian di Sekolah Tinggi Mountain Brook, Cox pergi ke Mount Vernon College di Washington, DC (kini sebahagian daripada Universiti George Washington), tetapi tidak menamatkan kursus seni bina, dan memilih untuk meneruskan kerjaya dalam pemodelan dan lakonan.[7] Beliau mempunyai keturunan Inggeris.[8][9][10]
