Dutcman
Merging
editHello, please do not merge Q1136252 (disambiguation, Cossmann with 2 "n" at the end) again into Q15917524 (family name, Cossman with 1 "n" at the end), see the guidelines why not (different spelling, different content). Please also notice that we have other items of related spellings:
Family name items (all with different incoming links from other Wikidata items):
- Cossmann Q16943726 (used by Maurice Cossmann, Bernhard Cossmann …)
- Cossman Q15917524 (used by Lynne Cossman, Brenda Cossman …)
- Cosman Q16865791 (used by Francene Cosman, Milein Cosman, Jim Cosman …)
- Kossmann Q16943722 (used by Kurt Kossmann, Alfred Kossmann …)
- Kosman Q16865375 (used by Marceli Kosman, Mike Kosman …)
- …more items will presumably come with time because Wikipedias create more and more family name articles.
Disambiguation items (linked Wikipedia pages all should have the exact same spelling, and also see the nutshell: "Never mix together disambiguations with pages about a given name and surname – they are used with P734 and P735."):
- Cossmann Q1136252
- Kossmann Q15725886
- Koßmann Q1522020
- Kosmann Q15824291
- Kosman Q12030268
- also more will come with time here…
I hope you see now that it is wrong to merge random items of the two lists above. People exist with differently spelled surnames, and for disambiguations there might also be towns, lakes, companies etc. with these names linked from the disambig pages so those ones are definitely not family name articles. If you want to link de:Cossmann (disambig with double "n" at the end) to ru:Коссман or so then please use local interwiki links (the Wikipedia communities are always free to link pages they like by classic interlanguage links), but do not mix up Wikidata items. Ömer Özkan (Q8078967)
editHappy New Year. I see that you merged two items, Ömer Özkan and Ömer Özak. Both Özkan and Özak are Turkish surnames. Are you sure they are not two people? --E4024 (talk) 01:15, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
