Hello Akkakk, could you look at the format constrain please (Property talk:P274)? I added a point for 0.8, 0.8 and 0.8H2O. The Bot didn't accept it. Sorry and regards --Chris.urs-o (talk) 02:37, 12 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

If you try to fix them, the correct way is to move all statement to a non-disambiguation article (one of disambiguation target), and fix all backlinks... For convenience I often simply replace the associated article. Liangent (talk) 17:12, 18 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

AkkakkBot

edit

Why did you skip Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Bot/AkkakkBot 3? It seems that the 3rd task listed on your bot's page doesn't need approval. --Ricordisamoa 05:12, 15 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

imho it's better if the bot task number is the same as the request number. --Akkakk 05:21, 15 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Descriptions from disambiguators

edit

Would you be interested in running User:AkkakkBot/code/02-terminator-descriptions in other languages? I could translate the regex in French without too much effort and from what I can tell, the rest of the code is easy to adapt by turning a few 'en' into 'fr'. Best, Pichpich (talk) 21:03, 24 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

i can do that, but i think it should be discussed somewhere. the regexp should not be translated, but collected from existing bracket-appendings on fr that are suitable as description. should i start a new rfbot or is it ok to discuss it on wd:Bot requests or wd:Bistro? User:Vogone? --Akkakk 03:40, 25 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Sure, it's not literally a translation and more like an equivalent or an adaptation but the strategy makes perfect sense. As for discussion, on one hand, it's the equivalent of a task which has performed quite well and was authorized without much opposition but on the other hand a new regex probably means a new test run that should be approved. I'll look into it tomorrow or Saturday. Best, Pichpich (talk) 04:09, 25 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Here is a version of the regex. I've chosen the most promising disambiguators but the expression could be expanded a little bit more if needed.
r".* \((acteur|actrice|album|album .*|arbitre|architecte|artiste|astronome|avocat|bande originale|chanson|chanson .*|chanteur|chanteuse|cinéaste|compositeur|cuisinier|dessinateur|diplomate|dramaturge|écrivain|écrivain .*|femme politique|film|groupe|homme d'affaires|homme politique|inventeur|jeu vidéo|journaliste|juge|mathématicien|médecin|musicien|nageur|officier|officier .*|peintre|philosophe|photographe|physicien|pianiste|poème|poète|politicien|politicien .*|réalisateur|roman|satellite|sculpteur|sociologue|théologien)\)"
Note that there are non-ASCII characters which I don't know how to handle. I suggest testing the regex and then re-opening the bot approval process. I'll be happy to check the test results and be of any further assistance. Best, Pichpich (talk) 13:39, 26 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
thanks. i don't know if the regexp will match on the non-ascii-characters, but at least it doesn't fail. python is a little strange on handling string-encodings. Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Bot/AkkakkBot 2a--Akkakk 16:40, 26 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
One possible way out is to replace the non-ASCII characters by a single letter. (I mean replace écrivain by .crivain or even écrivain by .*crivain) I'm pretty confident that it would not create false positives. Pichpich (talk) 18:02, 26 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Here's the more complete version of the regex. I could add some more but there would be diminishing returns. I've looked at the very limited test and it looked ok. It would be important to check the behaviour of the program when dealing with non-ASCII characters but beyond that, I can't see what could go wrong. Thanks for your help, Pichpich (talk) 20:45, 26 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

worked on Q1356708, but with dots instead of é. with é the regexp didn't match. this UnicodeEncode-issue is on different scripts. does someone know how to handle this? currently i often supress debug-output or catch the error and just ignore the item. see User:AkkakkBot/code --Akkakk 03:34, 27 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Great. Just let me know when you have a few test examples and I'll comb through them. Thanks a lot for your help on this. Pichpich (talk) 04:25, 27 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
i have only those edits listed in the log ([1], [2] [3] [4]) which you may have found. i don't plan to do more edits before approval (unless i work on the code) --Akkakk 06:25, 27 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

als-labels

edit

--Pasleim (talk) 22:21, 29 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Deprecated codes for languages

edit

Hi there, I noticed your work on deprecated codes, and I'd like first of all to thank you for that. :)

I'm contacting you, because I'm involved into merging WD items regarding user categories on smaller projects, and I noticed that there are lots of conflicts between codes. Can you suggest me where I can find the official list of codes used by WMF? I'm also trying to suggest some corrections to the Babel extension workgroup, and that list would help me a lot. :)

Cheers, and keep up the good work! --Sannita - not just another it.wiki sysop 11:23, 3 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

the mappings between wrong and correct language-codes can be found in InitialiseSettings.php. i haven't seen a full list of all supported languages so far. i'm sure it exists somewhere. --Akkakk 11:30, 3 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
here's the list: https://www.wikidata.org/w/api.php --Akkakk 16:38, 4 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

lower case in task 5

edit

An idea for task 5: If the English label already has a lower-case first character, then add the label with the first character lower-case in other languages (except for German and any other languages that capitalize all nouns or some other weird thing that English doesn't capitalize). Example: martial law (Q715625) — Latin label (language "la") could have been added as "lex militaris" instead of "Lex militaris". There are probably some other languages besides English that can be used as "hints"; French and Spanish would be bad as hints, though, because they make all adjectives lower-case, I believe. No words past the first one should be changed, though. --Closeapple (talk) 04:28, 16 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Communications Security Establishment Canada from English to Portuguese

Instead of going to Communications Security Establishment Canada from English to Portuguese, the page is going to a soccer club - Clube Sociedade Esportiva. This is obviously wrong. Constraints for Strunz 8th edition (series ID, updated) (P711)

edit

Hello Akkakk, could be added a format constraint for Strunz 8th edition (series ID, updated) (P711)? Format should be "[IV]([IVX]){0,3}/[A-Z]\.[0-9][0-9]-([0-9]){2,3}". For example "VIII/J.26-100" or "IX/A.01-05" or "V/B.01-10". I hope syntax for the format constraint is correct. --Sbisolo (talk) 10:22, 20 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Akkakkbot removing Simple English titles and descriptions

edit

Hi, Akkakk. A couple of times, your bot has deleted Simple English descriptions and titles I have added to items. Is there a policy to do so? Simple English is considered (to some degree) a separate language here. There is a separate Simple English Wikipedia and Wiktionary, after all. Thanks for your response. 14:11, 1 May 2015 (UTC)

Your bot has been listed at Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Removal/Inactive bot accounts as being inactive for over two years. As a housekeeping measure it's proposed to remove the bot flag from inactive bot accounts, unless you expect the bot will be operated again in the near future. If you consent to the removal of the bot flag (or do not reply on the deflag page) you can rerequest the bot flag at Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Bot should you need it again. Of course, You may request retaining your bot flag here if you need the bot flag. Regards--GZWDer (talk) 11:48, 26 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Eihel. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent description edits to Q2303730 didn't meet the Wikidata description guidelines. Descriptions should appear as though they were in the middle of a sentence, typically start with a lowercase letter, and written from a neutral point of view. For example, "pop singer" would be a better description than "He is the best pop singer." If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks!  Eihel (talk) 18:16, 5 October 2021 (UTC) --Eihel (talk) 18:16, 5 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
