O impacto de curto prazo da pandemia COVID-19 nas empresas portuguesas

Abstract
A pandemia COVID-19 e as medidas necessárias à sua contenção traduziram-se num choque muito severo sobre o tecido empresarial português. Este artigo utiliza os resultados do Inquérito Rápido e Excecional às Empresas – COVID-19 (COVID-IREE) para caracterizar o impacto económico da pandemia no curto prazo, num contexto em que as autoridades públicas adotaram diversas medidas de apoio. Os principais resultados mostram uma quebra bastante expressiva da atividade das empresas no segundo trimestre de 2020, com efeitos muito adversos sobre a sua liquidez. Em particular, o Alojamento e restauração destaca-se como o setor mais afetado pela pandemia. Neste período, o impacto sobre o emprego foi relativamente contido. Porém, observaram-se reduções acentuadas no pessoal efetivamente a trabalhar, atenuadas pela utilização do teletrabalho e pela presença alternada nas instalações. Por fim, o inquérito revela que as empresas que beneficiaram das medidas de apoio adotadas pelo Governo foram as que se encontravam numa situação mais desfavorável e que estas medidas tiveram um papel muito relevante na salvaguarda da sua sustentabilidade financeira e na preservação do emprego.
