La convergencia Regional en Colombia: una visión de largo plazo, 1926-1995

Abstract
Este documento muestra una visión de largo plazo del proceso de convergencia y polarización regional en Colombia. Para ello se estudia el período que va desde 1926 hasta 1995, dividiéndolo en dos subperíodos de acuerdo con las fuentes estadísticas disponibles. El primero está comprendido entre 1926 y 1960, en el que, dado la carencia de información sobre PIB departamental, se utilizan los datos correspondientes a los depósitos bancarios departamentales como proxy del nivel de ingreso departamental. El segundo va de 1960 a 1995, donde el análisis se hace a partir de la información sobre PIB departamental disponible. Adicional a las medidas tradicionales de convergencia beta y sigma, este documento utiliza nuevos indicadores que permiten alcanzar conclusiones “robustas” sobre la hipótesis de convergencia en el país.
