Yair Aharoni: Personal Memories and a Short Tribute

In: Standing on the Shoulders of International Business Giants

Abstract
Professor Yair Aharoni was a remarkable individual. I grew up knowing that our goal in life should be to make a positive difference in the world and leave whatever we get involved with in better shape than we found it. While I am unsure if I have done that adequately — in any case that is a judgment for others to make — I have little doubt that Yair made a big difference in the world. I know he did leave it better off. First, he significantly advanced our understanding of perhaps the most important phenomenon of our times — economic globalization. Second, he was a kind and generous individual who greatly influenced the better scholars and others around him. Next, I address these two contentions in greater detail.
