La globalización, inversión extranjera y desigualdades regionales

Abstract
El aumento espectacular de las inversiones extranjeras con fines productivos, impulsadas por una oleada de fusiones y adquisiciones transfronterizas, ha sido uno de los principales rasgos que ha caracterizado recientemente a una economía mundial en la que las empresas transnacionales han actuado como “motor” del tantas veces aludido “proceso de globalización”. Sin embargo, las impresionantes cifras globales esconden además la existencia de grandes diferencias entre territorios de tal modo que son los países más desarrollados y, dentro de éstos, las regiones más desarrolladas, quienes dominan el mapa mundial. La economía española, tras convertirse en uno de los principales receptores de este capital foráneo bajo la forma de Inversión Extranjera Directa, es un claro ejemplo de esta concentración territorial de capital extranjero en las regiones más desarrolladas. Si bien la crisis económica internacional generó una nueva estrategia basada en la reubicación del capital foráneo, la comunidad madrileña, siempre ha mantenido su atractivo para el inversor extranjero. La concentración de este tipo de capital en dicha comunidad incluso se intensifica conforme se avanza temporalmente. De nuevo, se está reproduciendo un patrón de crecimiento desigual, y la brecha entre las regiones más y menos desarrolladas se intensifica.
