Abstract
A tanulmányban a kapitalizmus változatai néven ismert összehasonlító politikai gazdaságtani iskola megközelítését felhasználva, empirikus elemzésre alapozva az Európai Unió közép-kelet-európai tagállamait új modellként helyezzük el a régi tagállamok modelljei között. Az intézményi elemzést összevetjük makroökonómiai vizsgálatokkal. Ezek megerősítik, hogy olyan modell alakult ki a térségben, amely jelentős fejlődést hozott, azonban olyan korlátai is megmutatkoznak, amelyek kétségessé teszik a régi tagállamok fejlettségi szintjéhez való felzárkózást. Az oktatás, a kutatás-fejlesztés és innováció fejletlensége, párosulva a viszonylag alacsony megtakarítási rátával és csökkenő népességgel, valószínűsíti, hogy a jelenlegi aszimmetrikus interdependencia-függőség a fejlett országoktól tartósan fennmarad. Az EU stratégiáiban megcélzott innovációvezérelt gazdaságfejlődésre való áttérés legfeljebb egyes országoknak - kivételesen - sikerülhet. Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) kód: O43, P16, P52.
