Abstract
Milestones of establishment and transformations of EU Common agrarian policy are described. Principles of European policy of rural development are presented, and the experience of its modification is outlined. Institutional framework and mechanisms to finance measures on rural development in EU member states are studied. Advantages and gaps of the European agrarian policy and rural development are objected, and opportunities to apply the experience are analyzed. Approaches to reform agrarian policy in EU candidate countries are defined. European experience on supporting development of agrarian industry and rural territories is considered to evaluate potential of Ukraine's rural development policy to reformation. Measures having considerable impact upon social and ecological situation on rural territories are defined among the list of CAP measures. Taking into consideration current status of CAP and the accession intentions of Ukraine, urgent social and ecological measures to be realized to support development of agrarian industry and rural territories are suggested.
