La Ley de protección a la maternidad como incentivo de participación laboral femenina: el caso colombiano

Abstract
Este trabajo tiene el objetivo de determinar el impacto de la sentencia C-470 de 1997, la cual establece la nulidad del despido y la orden de reintegro de la trabajadora embarazada, sobre la participación laboral femenina en Colombia. Se utilizan los datos de la Encuesta Nacional de Hogares de los anos 1996, 1998 y 2000 del DANE. Se estiman regresiones con base en un modelo econométrico de diferencias en diferencias, tomando como grupo de tratamiento las mujeres entre los 15 y los 29 anos y como grupo de control las mujeres entre los 30 y los 44 anos. El estudio encuentra que el cambio en las normas referentes a la maternidad en la vida laboral ha tenido un efecto negativo sobre la probabilidad de estar ocupada.
