De l’amiante au chrysotile, un glissement stratégique dans la désinformation

Abstract
Influencé par la presse hexagonale, dans un pays où l'amiante est interdit depuis 1996, on peut croire que la page de l'amiante est définitivement tournée. C'est faire preuve de naïveté. La production d'amiante, qui avait chuté à la fin des années 90, augmente régulièrement depuis 2001. Ce fait nous conduit à examiner, notamment par le biais de la théorie des jeux, les similarités et les différences stratégiques entre l'Institut du Chrysotile (IC) au Canada, créé en 1984 et toujours très actif, et le Comité Permanent Amiante (CPA) en France, créé en 1982 et disparu depuis 1995. Nous attirons également l'attention sur les similitudes entre le CPA, l'IC, l'association européenne des industries de la fibre céramique (ECFIA) et la Refractory Ceramic Fibers Coalition (RCFC), ces deux dernières associations étant les lobbies industriels des fibres céramiques réfractaires, un produit substitut de l'amiante. Nous nous intéressons plus particulièrement à la nature des informations incomplètes qui caractérisent les productions d'amiante et de fibres céramiques réfractaires, à l'évolution de ces informations et à l'utilisation stratégique de ces dernières par les différents lobbies industriels.
