Robert Studley Forrest Hughes AO (28 Juli 1938 – 6 Agustus 2012) adalah seorang kritikus seni, penulis dan produser dokumenter televisi kelahiran Australia. Karya berpenjualan terbaiknya The Fatal Shore (1987) adalah sebuah studi koloni tahanan Inggris dan sejarah awal Australia. Ia disebut pada 1997 oleh Robert Boynton dari The New York Times sebagai "kritikus seni paling terkenal di dunia."[1][2]
Hughes meraih pengakuan besar atas buku dan serial televisinya dalam bidang seni rupa modern, The Shock of the New, dan untuk jabatan jangka panjangnya sebagai kritikus seni dengan majalah TIME. Dikenal atas kritikannya terhadap seni rupa dan para seniman, Hughes umumnya bersikap konservatif dalam pernyataannya, meskipun ia tak masuk kamp filsafat tertentu. Tulisannya dikenal karena kekuatannya dan elegansinya.[2]
