Krisis Sputnik

Krisis Sputnik adalah sebuah periode ketakutan publik terhadap kemajuan teknologi antara Amerika Serikat dan Uni Soviet yang disebabkan oleh peluncuran Sputnik 1, satelit artifisial pertama di dunia. Krisis tersebut merupakan peristiwa penting pada awal Perang Dingin yang berujung pada pembuatan NASA dan Perlombaan Angkasa antara dua kekuatan adidaya tersebut. Satelit tersebut diluncurkan pada 4 Oktober 1957 dari Kosmodrom Baikonur. Istilah tersebut dicanangkan oleh Presiden AS pada masa itu Dwight D. Eisenhower.
