Thelypteris es un género de helechos perteneciente a la familia Thelypteridaceae.^[1]​ Las especies, muy similares entre ellas, se encuentran en gran parte del mundo.^[2]​ Estos helechos son plantas de hábitos terrestres y como excepción crecen en las rocas.^[3]​ La mayoría crecen en ambientes tropicales pero también algunas lo hacen bajo climas templados.^[3]​
