The doctrine is also a teaching in the Catholic religion.

I've heard US military officers talk of something they call doctrine. Also online. For instance: "Ukraine's army has been getting trained in western military doctrine since 2014 and it's just a fact that that doctrine leads to fewer casualties than Russia's more rigid top down military doctrine".
