庫(く)裏(り) • (kuri) 

1. living quarters of a Buddhist temple
   • 1922, Inoue Masao, Ōsaka fu zenshi [Osaka prefecture complete inventory], page 482:

     境(けい)内(だい)は八(はち)拾(じゅう)八(はち)坪(つぼ)を有(ゆう)し、本(ほん)堂(どう)・庫(く)裏(り)・納(おさめ)家(け)を存(そん)す。

     Keidai wa hachijūhachi tsubo o yū shi, hondō kuri osameke o son su.

     The grounds cover 88 tsubo, including the main temple, living quarters, and storage building.

2. the kitchen of a Zen monastery

   Synonym: 庫院 (kuin)

In smaller monasteries one room may serve as the priest or abbot’s office as well as kitchen where offerings of food for the Buddha are prepared and meals served to priests.
