Wikisource talk:News
Per this discussion, the project should use three major pages:
Moreover, a page for each month should be created (like Wikisource:News/2013-02) and included into Wikisource:News. In such pages, each post should have a second-level heading. Any widespread-interest news should be posted, without caring of redundancy with other Wikisource pages. For further information and advice, see WS:WikiProject News. |
I would like to see an story annoucing this Wikiproject which has been ongoing but was just recently formalized,--BirgitteSB 02:02, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
Uploads — spoilsport here
editI am not sure why we would want to necessarily celebrate and advertise enWS uploads. We still prefer people to upload to Commons, and such an expression of congratulations might be seen as an encouragement. — billinghurst sDrewth 12:01, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- That was more of a summary of the wikisource items on Meta:Wikimedia News. I've added a bit to the sentence to try to attenuate any encouragement. - AdamBMorgan (talk) 13:36, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- Ugh! Removed it over there. Thx — billinghurst sDrewth 15:22, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
Inactive?
editHey there, I've noticed this project has been inactive for some time. Are there any plans to revive it in the future? Cheers,—C. F. 12:58, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
- Nobody has talked about Wikisource:news. Probably a better topic to discuss on WS:S. We are truly good transcribers, though not the best communicators. — billinghurst sDrewth 13:12, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
- Sure thing, I'm not really the freest of editors right now; maybe someone could chip in. —C. F. 13:36, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
- I think it'd be a good thing to have a news thing that could be sent out to the world every month. I think it'd have to have a pretty low barrier of 'newsworthiness' though, to ensure people felt able to add items (because really, what are the chances of getting more than a couple a month?). Maybe a button at the top of the Scriptorium? Next to 'New topic', 'Ask for help', we could have 'Report recent news' or something. — Sam Wilson ( Talk • Contribs ) … 23:23, 6 January 2016 (UTC)

editwikisource at wikimania
edithi, thanks for the work. wikisource has a track at wikimania. [1] we should have a schedule by next month to talk about. Slowking4 ‽ SvG's revenge 12:26, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Slowking4: Oh, that's awesome!! How do you want this covered? My immediate thought was an interview format with you as a featured story here, but I could also write a puff piece about it and cross-submit it to the Signpost. I'd love to make an in depth story about it regardless because this looks exciting! :D –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 18:17, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
- yeah, i was thinking of a coming attractions piece, with links to each presentation. (and hopefully livestreams) the wikisource year in review will be a nice cross language summary, with our million milestone mentioned. if you want to interview by email also, that’s fine.
