From the coordinators

This month we have rolled out a change to {{infobox military conflict}}. At the request of Jim Sweeney (talk · contribs), coordinator emeritus Kirill Lokshin has modified the template to include a new field for the units involved in the conflict. This should allow a greater degree of accuracy and organization in our conflict related articles, so feel free to incorporate this information into the template should you have occasion to edit or create a conflict article.

In addition, the coordinators would like to remind all project members that the next coordinator election will take place in September. Because the election schedule has yet to be worked out there are no concrete dates set for the signup or election periods. However, September's coordinator elections will mark the inaugural roll out of the one-year coordinator term ratified by the community during the March elections. If you are interested in running for the position of coordinator you are welcome to ask questions of the current coordinator tranche. We will be happy to answer any questions concerning the position and the responsibilities that go with it. In general, the military history project's coordinators oversee the assessment and A-class review processes for articles within our scope; the work can be time consuming, but it is not difficult, and no previous experience is required.

Finally, we wish to extend our best wishes to all of our student contributors as the upcoming academic year approaches. Because many of our coordinators are also students, we can appreciate the long hours and the hard work that goes into getting a good grade. Remember, school should always take priority over Wikipedia; if you need to reduce your editing to maintain your grades then please do so. No one will think any less of you for sacrificing Wikipedia time to help make your academic ends meet.

For the IX coordinator tranche, TomStar81 (Talk) 08:32, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
