- Project News
- After a two-week election in September and October, three WP:FILMS members were elected as Coordinators for the project. Girolamo Savonarola was named Lead Coordinator, with users Nehrams2020 & The Giant Puffin serving as Assistant Coordinators. The Coordinators will work together to improve the project by maintaining the assessment department, expanding the {{Film}} banner, forming and organizing new task forces, and helping with other areas within the project. The next election period for new Coordinators will be in late March to early April 2008.
- This month, several related WikiProjects were merged into WP:FILMS as task forces. These new task forces include: Film festivals, Filmmaking, and Film awards. If you are interested in helping with the task forces, add your name to the participants list and look at the respective instructions and requests on the task forces' pages.
- We have now reached over 33,000 film articles that have been assessed by our assessment department! Remember to always add the {{Film|class=}} template to a film article's talk page so the project can get a better idea of what work still needs to be done. Below is a table showing a breakdown of our articles by class and importance.
- As mentioned in the last newsletter, the {{Film}} banner has been expanded which resulted in a large backlog in the number of unassessed articles due to the List, Dab, NA, etc. classes being added to the unassessed category. However, this has been fixed, but there are still about 1,500 articles that need to be assessed due to the recent merging of several projects into task forces within the project. If you are interested in helping our project return to having no unassessed articles, take a look at the category and assess the articles according to the guidelines found at the assessment department. If you have any questions about assessing articles, leave a message on the talk page. To accelerate the assessment process, consider adding the Outrigger tool to your Monobook, which can add the class, importancae, and task forces with just a few clicks. The tool can be found here.
- According to WikiCharts for the month of October, several films were in the top 100 most viewed articles on Wikipedia. These include: Transformers (#11), Halloween (#64), & 300 (#66).
- Spotlight Update: Multiple films and film-related articles have reached GA status in October. A large number of James Bond films reached GA status, good job to those involved!
