Bowie List of songs
Dear Zmbro, I am not used to edit in Wiki so I just want to send you the information that I miss the song "I pity the fool" from 1965 in the songlist. It was even a single and is listed here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Bowie_discography Of course it was with the Manish Boys, but that shouldnt be a problem. I hope its ok, to send sth about mistakes or missing things like this! Maybe someone should compare the discography with the list of songs - I hope it won't be me procrastinating ;-) Thanks and best wishes for 2021, c — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cwwbowwow (talk • contribs) 13:27, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Paint It Black
Hi Zmbro! Thank you for your help with Paint It Black! I have currently nominated it for GA, but do you want to help take it (ie co-nom) to FA when that is done? I'd like to put it through GA first so that it can get its chance at DYK as well (since FAs don't give DYK eligibility and I'd like to get it everywhere it can be). I definitely want to nominate it for FAC and would be happy to work with someone on that who has more experience, like yourself. --TheSandDoctor Talk 05:00, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- TheSandDoctor Sure I'd be happy to! I, unfortunately, don't have any Stones books in my possession so I can't help out in that instance but I will try to help out the best I can. I personally don't think it's ready for FA yet, but with a few more tweaks it will be a GA in no time. :-) – zmbro (talk) 15:04, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- That's okay! I'm sure we can still make this work. How far off do you think it is from FA? --TheSandDoctor Talk 05:33, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
- TheSandDoctor I think it could use a little more detail in certain sections and maybe some edits for flow. One thing I'm thinking of is the song's significance in the raga rock genre, coming 5 months after "Norwegian Wood" and 2 months after "Eight Miles High". Unterberger has a pretty detailed song review of "Paint It Black" on AllMusic so I'll be incorporating that soon. Also, do we have references for the track listing section? Just some ideas. – zmbro (talk) 15:03, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
- Good catch. Reference added for the track listings. --TheSandDoctor Talk 06:45, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- TheSandDoctor Are track lengths available or just the titles? – zmbro (talk) 20:20, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- It is for "Paint It Black" (3:46 in same ref), but not for "Long, Long While" or "Stupid Girl". --TheSandDoctor Talk 04:03, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- Maybe if I'd turned the page over..."Long, Long While": 3:01 (pg 171), "Stupid Girl": 2:56 (pg 145). --TheSandDoctor Talk 05:37, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- TheSandDoctor That should work! I could also find the single on discogs and use the catalog numbers if need be. – zmbro (talk) 15:56, 10 January 2021 (UTC)

- (In the track listing). Make sense? – zmbro (talk) 14:19, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

- TheSandDoctor Did Kyle tell you to change pubs like Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, The Guardian and Billboard to publisher instead of website? If so, that's not right those should be websites. – zmbro (talk) 16:11, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- He did indeed. TheSandDoctor Talk 16:34, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

- I will have to do that when I’m home. @Kyle Peake: for your FYI. TheSandDoctor Talk 21:42, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- Apologies for indents, on mobile. Aside from that, what are your thoughts on how close it is, zmbro? TheSandDoctor Talk 21:43, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- TheSandDoctor I've only written one FA, and I took that one through two different copy-edits, a GAN, a peer review, and the FAC comments themselves for more input before it was promoted. So it's really hard for me to judge whether it's ready or not. If you're unsure and don't want to take it directly to FAC (as they can be hard sometimes), I would open a peer review for the article then personally reach out to regular FAC reviewers and ask they post some comments there. For me that was a good way to get a gauge. – zmbro (talk) 22:33, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you and fair enough. I guess for publisher it would be "Penske Media Corporation" for Rolling Stone and the website param Rolling Stone? --TheSandDoctor Talk 05:00, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hello Zmbro, I see you and TheSandDoctor are mistaken in believing I told the user to change the publications mentioned above to publishers instead of websites. This is a misconception; I suggested that for entirely different citations, not those ones and check the review page to verify. --K. Peake 06:00, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- Reviewing that, I misinterpreted what you wrote. I wasn't intending to blame you for anything, Kyle Peake, I just pinged you for fyi believing it to have been a mistake or misunderstanding; it turns out I was the one who misunderstood, my apologies. --TheSandDoctor Talk 15:20, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

Lodger (album)
Hello:

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Best of luck with the GAN.

Hey, thanks for all your work on that article. Listen, I was wondering about Terry Burns. I don't have that biography that is the source for that sentence, but "schizophrenic" isn't even mentioned in Bowie's article. If it is in Pegg 2016, and you have access to it, would you mind adding that in David Bowie? And is he still alive? There's no dates in the article. (BTW look at what I did to the dab page Terry Burns; an IP added him a few days ago and I removed it the adjective.) Thanks, Drmies (talk) 23:10, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
- Drmies Hi Drmies! Thanks very much for your kinds words. I just checked and yes, Pegg does use the word "schizophrenic". I'd be happy it to add it to Bowie's main page. To answer your second question, I have no idea. Terry doesn't seem to be mentioned much outside of this time period, as I know both "Bewlay Brothers" from Hunky and "All the Madmen" from TMWSTW have been described as being about him, but I can't recall any other song that has been described as being about him. He definitely doesn't appear to have enough notability to have his own article on WP though. – zmbro (talk) 23:28, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
- Yeah, sure thing: I love giving credit where credit is due, and it's one of my favorite albums ever--I think it may have been the second or third Bowie album I ever bought, back in 1981 or so. Anyway, a reference in Bowie's article would be great (and I think I prefer "suffered from schizophrenia" or something like that better than "schizophrenic" as an adjective, as the sole determiner of a man's life..), and I appreciate you taking the time to check. Alright, gotta go, I found a note on someone's talk page that led me on a walk down memory lane: I'm playing all the Pogues song I can find on YouTube. Drmies (talk) 23:32, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hey, @Drmies. I'm just a rando seeing this several days later, reading someone's talk page after doing a GA review, but I do happen to know your answers here. Terry committed suicide in '85, which inspired the Nineties-Bowie song Jump They Say -- probably the latest-dated reference to him in Bowie's public life at all. Chris O'Leary's brilliant Pushing Ahead of the Dame discusses more about Terry's life in a number of its articles (which were later published in a couple books that are, indeed, used as cites in some Bowie articles); see Jump They Say, The Bewlay Brothers, All The Madmen. Not to toot my own horn, but I've also written about Bowie, Terry, and the space between. Vaticidalprophet (talk) 10:40, 23 January 2021 (UTC)
- Vaticidalprophet, thanks for the note--I would really appreciate it, and maybe zmbro agrees, if you could add properly sourced content to the Bowie article, at the very least. Surely the brother deserves a few sentences in there, and then he can be mentioned in the articles on the albums with these songs as well. Thanks! Drmies (talk) 02:00, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- I never noticed just how little Bowie's article talks about Terry -- a huge oversight, considering just how significant an influence he had. I'll see what I can do about sourcing (I don't own O'Leary's books proper, so I'll have to double-check what posts correlate to what books and if the relevant sections are significantly changed between their self-published forms and their officially published/reliable-source ones...or get the books, which would be a bit of a wait). Terry is definitely one of the people overall who's undercovered compared to his influence, which is something that pops up for quite a few Bowie-adjacents (e.g. Hermione Farthingale, Walli Elmlark). Vaticidalprophet (talk) 02:37, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- Vaticidalprophet I realized that Bowie's articles have tended to underplay Terry a bit, as you've said he was a major influence on Bowie's music from 1970–71. And if he was the inspiration for "Jump They Say" then definitely source that in that article. I just checked Pegg and he does mention Terry being the inspiration (pages 144–145). – zmbro (talk) 15:48, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- Belatedly commenting I've made the relevant expansions and cites, though I suspect I may be able to pull off more on the Bowie article proper with time and more books. (I also unrelatedly did a little with Blackout (David Bowie song), and was amused to see the self-reverting AfD notices in the edit history.) Vaticidalprophet (talk) 09:53, 30 January 2021 (UTC)

- Hi Vaticidalprophet! Before I answer your question below, I was reading through Marc Spitz's 2009 biography Bowie and found 2 pages discussing Terry's decline and death in the 80s. Idk if you have access to it (it's available on the Open Library), but it's on pages 332–333 if you're interested. – zmbro (talk) 19:28, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the pointer! I'll check that out. Vaticidalprophet (talk) 19:31, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

It is so hard to figure out on Amazon what version one has of which album. From the tracklist I now gather that I have the 2005 re-release of Stage (having listened to the vinyl version since I guess 1981 or so, it was a shocker). But what I'm wondering, and maybe you know this, is if buying A New Career is the only way to get the remixed version of Lodger. I can't really justify dropping over $100 on that set. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 14:17, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- Drmies I know you can find the 2017 remix of Lodger on YouTube but I'm not sure if you can buy it separately from the New Career set; I believe the 2017 version of Stage comes with that as well. What I find interesting is when I play the 2017 Lodger mix on Apple Music it displays different artwork than the original (shows Bowie's face instead of his feet). I'd personally really like that on vinyl but unfortunately don't know if it's separate. Maybe check Discogs. – zmbro (talk) 15:45, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- I will--thanks. I don't subscribe to any streaming services. And Youtube--that's already compressed, and does it really make a difference when it finally gets to my speakers? I mean, can you hear it's remixed/whatever? (Is it worth my time to reroute my hardware and plug my desktop into my hifi?) Thanks! And I will have a look at Discogs. Drmies (talk) 16:06, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- Drmies Even on YouTube you can tell the difference. You can find it here. The 2017 mix really makes the album sound substantially better. Bowie and Visconti have said it themselves that the studio they mixed it at (Record Plant I believe), was not up to the same standard as UK studios, and you can really tell. If you want a better understanding of the difference, check out this video. – zmbro (talk) 16:12, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- Haha, while you were typing this I was perusing Discogs (really useless: overload) and checking Amazon and my own copy--turns out I have the 1999 version, and Amazon sells the new remaster for $12 so I ordered it. Now I'm listening to the YouTube version and I can hear differences, obviously in the reverb on his vocals, but also in the stereo mix. I'm not usually the kind of person who'll buy two versions of the same album, but I'll unload the old one on my daughter. ;-) And now I'm going to check out your other video--thanks. Drmies (talk) 16:27, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ugh. Thanks for that link. So I had ordered the remaster (I just canceled it) instead of the remix. I think the remaster sounds better than my 1999 CD, but it's not the remix. Ha, maybe I should save up and get the box. Drmies (talk) 16:32, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- Drmies Yeah the 2017 remaster is the exact same mix as the original just remastered. The 2017 remix is the different one. In the New Career box set, it appears as (2017 Tony Visconti mix) to differentiate. – zmbro (talk) 17:36, 24 January 2021 (UTC)

Ava Cherry
So I noticed that, quite unimaginably, Ava Cherry is a redlink. I've taken it upon myself to rectify this, but I'd like to solve a problem I think you might be better at than me. Do you know of, or where to find, any free images of her? Her visual aesthetic is both striking enough and an important enough part of who she was/is (and why Bowie was interested in her) that I absolutely can't have an imageless article, but to my knowledge all her photos are copyrighted. Thanks for any help you can give. Vaticidalprophet (talk) 18:39, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- Vaticidalprophet I unfortunately have no idea where any free images of her would be. Tbh, Idek if I've actually seen a photo of her. Kevin Cann brings her up a few times in Any Day Now but doesn't have a photo. After the Young Americans era, she seems to just exit out of Bowie's life entirely. If you think there's enough info about her for her to have her own WP article I say go for it. I know many of Bowie's biographers bring her up during the 1973–75 period but I personally don't think if anything has been written about her individually. And going back to the images thing, I have no idea. Sorry I couldn't be more assistance! – zmbro (talk) 19:32, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- Various updates: the draft is chugging along well, I contacted her for image donations and got a positive response, and -- hilariously -- managed to find an appropriately licensed picture on Flickr afterwards. So the article should be quite well-illustrated. She has a decent amount of interviews and some coverage of her solo career, in addition to the stuff in Bowie (and to a lesser degree Vandross) books. Vaticidalprophet (talk) 03:02, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
- Vaticidalprophet Good to hear! I've found that the majority of Bowie's biographers mention her at least once in their books but that only covers the period of ~73–75 and nothing else. Can't wait to see the finished product! – zmbro (talk) 23:25, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
- Ava Cherry is a bluelink now. From where I'm standing there's still quite a bit of gaps to shore up (need released photos to come back; need to get my newspapers.com free trial up to write more about contemporary reception to her solo stuff; could do with a post-Bowie personal life section), but hey, 2000 words ain't bad. Planning to do the GA/FA run once I can sort those out. Vaticidalprophet (talk) 16:15, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

impressive contributions
Hi Zmbro. I think we are on the same team. I wanted to add a line about what the song lyrics mean. I am open to your counter offer about the real meaning of this song. contributing as one of your teammates. best regards, mic — Preceding unsigned comment added by Electricmic (talk • contribs) 12:20, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
- Electricmic I myself have always wondered what "Suffragette City" means, as Bowie's biographers don't necessarily have a meaning themselves. If you have an author or reviewer from a reliable source that gives a meaning feel free to add that, but you unfortunately can't add unsourced content and expect it to fly, especially to articles promoted to GA or FA/FL status. – zmbro (talk) 15:14, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
Hi Zimbro,
Is it straight truth and legal for wiki contributors to just post the lyrics without interpretation?
thanks,

808s & Heartbreak
Very glad to see that you thanked me for my recent edit on the album single "Heartless"; please tell me if any sections come across as too extensive though! I would like to ask if you have interest in reviewing the nom for "Street Lights", as you previously suggested it being one of your favs from the album? --K. Peake 11:43, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake Hey Kyle! Man that review was two years ago – crazy how fast time flies. I actually just listened to 808s in its entirety a couple weeks ago and honestly the whole thing has grown on me substantially since then. Even "Pinocchio Story" is legit. Only one I think is sub-quality is "See You in My Nightmares", primarily due to Lil Wayne. But yeah "Street Lights" seems relatively straightforward. I'll check it out this weekend. Can I expect you to review one of mine in return? – zmbro (talk) 23:07, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake Another quick question, do you think "Sound and Vision" is almost ready for GA? Know there's still a few things that need sourced but for the most part do you think it looks good? – zmbro (talk) 23:15, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

Young Americans
1. I don't know why you would claimed that I removed a Buckley quote from "Young Americans", when, if you look at my revision, the Buckley quote is there, as plain as day, at the beginning of the paragraph exactly where it was before I ever saw that page.
Why did you claim that I removed the Buckley quote?
2. I enhanced the article by including a link to the Complete Bowie by Pegg on archive.org. Archive.org allows any internet user to view the book for an hour for free. You reverted my good edit out of the article. The page number I added is the correct page number for the 2009 edition. Why didn't you just fix the page number for the 2016 edition and leave my edits in?
3. The article as it was was ALARMING. I could not believe that an expert would claim that Bowie was one of the first mainstream white musician to get involved in black musical styles. That's why I spent time tracking down the Pegg book, and then tracking down the actual quote. By changing the phrase "Black musical styles" to "Black soul", I made the article more accurate in how it quotes Pegg. Your reason for removing my hours of good work was...what? Robinesque (talk) 12:09, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
- Robinesque I apologize. I'll admit that when I was reading through it I really just touched over it and didn't see certain things. On my screen it showed Buckley's quote missing and I didn't see that you sourced the 2009 edition (I frankly forgot other versions existed at that moment). So for that again I apologize.
- Second, in the 2016 edition at least, Pegg does NOT claim Bowie was the first (because he obviously wasn't); as you said, quite a few had already done so by 1975. He says one of the first, but I agree your wording makes it much more clear so again, sorry about that. – zmbro (talk) 15:22, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
- Zmbro Thank you for acknowledging that. The category "Whites who have successfully appropriated Black MUSICAL STYLES pre-1975", can encompass too much - The Weavers singing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", Al Jolson and blackface minstrels, Joan Baez singing Negro spirituals, "Old Man River", as well as Lieber and Stoller writing soul music. By narrowing it down to just Soul Music, you make the statement closer to true. As well as a more faithful quote. Robinesque (talk) 07:11, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

Please stop edit warring in Paint It Black
The request for sources was satisfied -- although normal civil procedure is [citation needed] and a bit of patience, especially for basic facts well known and presented in good faith. The cover that you have twice deleted mention of satisfies guidelines for Cover versions/multiple renditions, and is at least as notable as several others mentioned in the article. Its live performance at Monterey before its release on Winds of Change, and selective inclusion in the film, seals historical significance of Eric and the Animals' version as part of the film being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" according to the Library of Congress United States National Film Registry. If you have specific concerns, I'd be happy to work with you on the article talk page to arrive at satisfactory text. Repeated peremptory reversion of good faith legitimate editing is far from being an ideal path to progress. Barefoot through the chollas (talk) 21:43, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
- I'm edit warring? Please....
- "the rendition is discussed by a reliable source, showing that it is noteworthy in its own right. Merely appearing in an album track listing, a discography, etc., is not sufficient to show that a cover version is noteworthy; cover songs with only these types of sources should not be added to song articles, either as prose or in a list." Citing AllMusic does not count. And just because a specific cover appears in an "important film" doesn't make it notable either. – zmbro (talk) 14:19, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, you are edit warring -- you just haven't reached 3 yet. We're dealing at the level of opinions and judgment calls in this instance. For reasons unclear, our opinions differ. A solution other than bickering, peremptory declarations and citing rules open to interpretation is in order: "An edit war occurs when editors who disagree about the content of a page repeatedly override each other's contributions. Editors engaged in a dispute should reach consensus or pursue dispute resolution rather than edit war. Edit warring is unconstructive, creates animosity between editors, makes consensus harder to reach, and causes confusion for readers. Users who engage in edit wars risk being blocked or even banned." I have extended a civil good faith offer to discuss this. Barefoot through the chollas (talk) 16:03, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
- "For reasons unclear"? You literally keep adding this cover that is not notable in its own right. If you manage to find a book or a reliable website that actually discusses this specific cover and talks about it more in depth then feel free to add it. Multiple editors now have brought this up on your own talk page yet you continue to add it (both without and with sources that still don't justify its notability). Just because a random cover appeared in a movie that's now in the Library of Congress doesn't make it notable enough to appear on this site. More so, you added this last month that was against WP:TRIVIA. User:TheSandDoctor was generous enough to post this on the song's talk page that very clearly illustrated the point that that type of info doesn't qualify enough to be this site. On top of that, learn this site's Manuel of style (i.e. albums and films are italicized and songs are put in quotation marks)
- Also, I know what edit warring is. I've been on this site for five years and have dealt with it repeatedly, so it's incredibly disrespectful that you'd think I wouldn't know what it meant. Bottom line is, if you find somewhere that actually has the Animals describing their cover or what the song meant to them, etc. then it could possibly warrant inclusion, but as it stands now, AllMusic and "phfilms" is not enough. – zmbro (talk) 21:03, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

Deletion of my contribution
In recent times, I have contributed in some album pages, which has some format up-gradation and label publication.
1) In some albums I have added some information about which formats were used when the album first published. E.g. - LP record, reel to reel tape, 4 track cartridge, 8 track cartridge, cassette tape and compact disc. All information I have gathered from www.rateyoumusic.com and www.discogs.com, which has track listing, label details, and both cover and label photo, that is which label published it in US & UK.
2) But today I have seen that all such details has now deleted, saying either it is unnecessary, or those websites are not reliable.
Now my question is what are the real reasons? I wrote before that those websites has details information regarding track listing, label details, and both cover and label photo, that is which label published it in US & UK. But if those photos even are not reliable, then which are reliable?
Is it a crime for me to add more details information about those albums, when those information are 100% reliable? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashis Mitra (talk • contribs) 19:20, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
- Ashis Mitra Actually, both Rate Your Music and Discogs are not considered reliable sources per WP:NOTRSMUSIC, as they both contain user generated content. Now, I use Discogs in order to find liner notes as well as catalogue numbers if books I own don't list them, but you cannot cite Discogs directly (and based on the edits of yours I reverted yesterday, you didn't even use sources). Also, in my opinion, it makes sense to have release formats in a "release history" section, but being adding to the lead section of an article is entirely unnecessary and inappropriate.
- Second, per Template:Infobox_song#Parameters, everything that appears in an infobox must be the original releases only, while separate releases (albeit different dates or US vs UK), should be stated in the body of the article. See Aftermath (Rolling Stones album) or David Bowie (1969 album) for reference. In regards to your overall question, no, it is not a "crime" to add "more info", but when the info isn't cited appropriately and is in inappropriate places, then sadly it's going to be reverted. Hope this helps. – zmbro (talk) 22:23, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
- Zmbro, Ok, I understood, In future, I will try to upload photos of records/cassettes/CDs from my collection, for a better proof, and my text will go with proved photos of versions of such albums. I think it will be stronger evident, in support of my post.
- Thank you very much for you explanation. am (talk) 16:53, 3 June 2021 (UTC)
- Ashis Mitra That actually won't work as reliable. See WP:RSMUSIC for a better understanding of reliable sources. You can't source photos, you need written evidence. See Template:Cite AV media notes for a better way of doing it. But if you do use that template for citing, use them in a the body of an article (not the lead section) or in a release history section. – zmbro (talk) 23:16, 3 June 2021 (UTC)
- But I have seen many pages which either has no citations/source or they have links with discogs, don't know why different rules for different users. am (talk) 19:57, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
- Ashis Mitra Many pages on WP are outdated. Because of this, you're going to have many that don't cite sources or use unreliable sources. This is no way means that there are "different rules for different users". It just means that certain pages have not been maintained. If you're new to the site and want to edit music articles, please see WP:NOTRSMUSIC for what's reliable and not reliable. – zmbro (talk) 20:05, 26 June 2021 (UTC)

The Man Who Sold The World
Hi, speaking as one who saw Bowie live (The 1995 Outside tour) at Wembley Arena London, There is repartition in the article:
"Retrospectively, Bowie's original recording has been named one of his best songs, with many praising the haunting and unsettling nature of the recording".
It starts a paragraph in the opening section and then it opens a further paragraph in the legacy section of the article - is there a way of rewording one of them so that they are different and avoiding an edit war?
Regards
Juanpumpchump (talk) 15:15, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
- Juanpumpchump Congrats. The lead is supposed to reiterate the main points of the article. Sometimes when doing that you happen to repeat things but doesn't mean it's "repetition" (or repartition). But sure I can reword it so it's not exactly the same. If we're being honest, you could have done reworded it yourself instead of removing it from the part of the page people read the most. – zmbro (talk) 23:30, 10 June 2021 (UTC)

Coldplay's Song List + Help
Hello, about the list of recordings released by Coldplay, I don't know if you checked out the full page but I didn't labeled "Music of the Spheres" as Higher Power's parent album, I just replaced the "Non album single" box with a "TBA" one, because even though LP9's title is yet to be confirmed, we already know it's coming. So like, how about I revert your revertion (that sounded corny but English is not my first language, sorry) and just unmerge the years and songwriters? There's nothing wrong with the rest I think. Now, about the help part, would you mind trying to nominate the List of awards and nominations received by Coldplay to be a featured article for me? I've been editing it by myself for months now and I think I did a good job, but I'm not really into Wikipedia, so I don't know ANYTHING about the process. GustavoCza (talk) 23 June 2021
- GustavoCza Sorry I must have missed that. Again, I think it's fine the way it is currently. We can change it once they announce the album title. You'll want to nominate that for featured list not article (as it's a list). Visit WP:FLC for the nomination procedure. :-) – zmbro (talk) 01:40, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

I tightened up the Critical reception and Retrospective appraisal sections, but I didn't change them much. I really believe they give the reader a clear idea of how critics on both sides felt about the album. In this case, that's important.

List of George Harrison songs reversion
Hello there, what is your reasoning behind your reverting the edit I made to the list of George Harrison songs? 82.26.31.56 (talk) 20:59, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hey there. That was a partial mistake on my part. The song does need to be included in the table, but the ref you put unfortunately didn't exist. I'll correct that mistake now. – zmbro (talk) 22:37, 10 July 2021 (UTC)

- Kyle Peake, My number 1 issue is that it's way too long. Love that it's longer than 30 min but 108 is way too much. Overall, to me, it felt more complete than both ye and JIK (especially the latter). Certain tracks, especially "Off the Grid" slapped hard. It reminds me a lot of TLoP in its structure. Is it better than JIK? 100%, but is it one of his best? First impressions would be no, but I'd have to give it another listen to really know. Let's hear it. – zmbro (talk) 15:38, 30 August 2021 (UTC)

- I'm pleased to share with you that I was in the audience at the Ziggy Stardust show at the Santa Monica Civic in 1972! It changed my life in so many ways. Wish I kept my ticket stub, but I have all the memories. Also saw him a few years later in what I think was the Diamond Dogs show - but can't remember if it was in Los Angeles or San Diego. I do remember there were big stage hydraulics and sets at that show, whereas the Ziggy show was basically just him and the band. What a contribution that man made during his lifetime, and he lives on through his music. Thanks again for your work here, looking forward to seeing the ch,changes. Low (David Bowie album)
Hello:
The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Low (David Bowie album) has been completed.
Please let me know if yo0u have any questions or concerns.
Over the years, I have run into differing opinions from GA reviewers over the use of quotations versus paraphrasing in reception sections. Frankly, if the quotation is interesting and on point I don't see the need to paraphrase it. However, in many of the album article's I've seen the editors have included every possible review they can find. There you find multiple reviewers saying essentially the same thing. I agree in this case it's better to simply say many reviewers found X and then add all the citations.
I felt the quotations in the Reception section of this article were really well chosen. The reviewers had clearly thought carefully about what they wanted to say and in many cases were brilliant. If it were my article, I would fight for the inclusion of the complete quotes. That being said, I did have a go at paraphrasing it. I have masked the original text. If you are unhappy with the result, you can simply revert the whole thing and the original text will be restored.
Best of luck with the article moving forward.

Thank you today for The Idiot (album), "about the great punk rocker Iggy Pop's first solo album. However, The Idiot isn't punk rock (mostly). The album was produced by Pop's good friend David Bowie. Both wanted to kick severe drug addictions so they escaped the States and moved to Europe. Due to the much worse state Pop was in, Bowie composed the music, which reflected the German sound of Krautrock that he was becoming interested in at that time, while Pop wrote the lyrics, mostly in response to what Bowie was creating. As a result, you get what I consider a classic album that doesn't represent what Pop was about (he would show that off on the follow-up Lust for Life)."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:57, 6 November 2021 (UTC)

- Realmaxxver Not at this second but maybe someday. Every song on that album has enough info to warrant its own article, but does every song have enough info to become a GA? Not sure. Right now I want to finally finish up Ziggy and get to work on Bowie's post-80s stuff (already started Tin Machine). So to answer your question maybe sometime next year. – zmbro (talk) 20:48, 13 October 2021 (UTC)

Hey, regarding this edit about the clarify tag, it wasn't my intention to cause offence, sorry. I also didn't mean to leave no edit summary for my follow-up edit, so explaining here instead.
I honestly think the existing phrasing was hard to follow, and I wasn't sure what it meant. To check I wasn't imagining things, I just asked two friends who they felt "himself" referred to in the sentence. They both said "Bowie but I'm not sure". I think it's just the way the grammatical structure is set up. Hopefully my last edit resolves it. Cheers. Popcornfud (talk) 20:54, 30 October 2021 (UTC)
- Regarding your revert just now - lol, sorry, I put the edit in the wrong part. My mistake. Let me put it right. Popcornfud (talk) 20:57, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

Nice work, Zmbro! I know I've thanked you for your Bowie contributions before but this was the one I was especially excited for. My second or third favourite Bowie album, so IMO very underrated.--TangoTizerWolfstone (talk) 23:10, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- TangoTizerWolfstone Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, this project has really given me more of an appreciation for all his records, even the lesser ones like Tonight and NLMD. Even after Tin Machine, I could see where he was coming from. BTWN is no different. I'm really to continue his 90s work as IMO that decade is very underappreciated (esp Earthling). Next, Buddha... – zmbro (talk) 12:45, 2 November 2021 (UTC)

Station to Station
Hello:
The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Station to Station has been completed.
In the Studio and personnel section I left a "Clarification needed" tag after this sentence: The studio opened in January 1975 and quickly became one of the city's biggest studios
. I masked a comment noting that perhaps the right word to use here is "busiest" rather than "biggest" because when it opened it either was the biggest or it was not. Otherwise, I think the article is in great shape.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Best of luck with the FA when you get to it.

Buddha of Suburbia reverted edit
I'm not sure why you reverted my edit to Bowie's The Buddha of Suburbia, as your explanation was "no....just no". The first note on the page makes it clear that the album has been described as both a soundtrack and studio album, so why shouldn't the infobox show it as such? Floyd albums More and Obscured by Clouds, which are both good articles, are classified this way in their infoboxes.
IAmAnIndividual (talk) 18:41, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- IAmAnIndividual I reverted my own edit as doing that might work, but the way I see is it's much more complicated than those Floyd albums. Since the actual "Buddha" song was included in the serial (and no other tracks) we can do that, but based on all the research I've done it's a studio album first and foremost. – zmbro (talk) 18:51, 13 November 2021 (UTC)

Station to Station
Hi Zmbro, you might have noticed I'd just started re-editing this, as I believe it needs work before FAC. I said I had more to go in my last edit summary and was planning to recommend we put it up together at PR and then go for a joint FAC. I really think it'd be good to pull from FAC and do that. Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 00:55, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
- Ian Rose I'm good with that. Can you do a quick deletion of it or does it need to be archived? – zmbro (talk) 01:02, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
- Appreciated, I see you've pulled from the FAC list, I'll organise for the FAC page to be uncontroversially deleted after saving your blurb, so it's fresh when we start again. You've done great work on the expansion, I just feel that, per my edit and comments on the lead, we can improve the punch and flow that I think the earlier (but less-detailed and up-to-date) version had. Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 01:12, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
- Ian Rose We should add an audio sample. I'm thinking the title track as that best encapsulates the musical transition. – zmbro (talk) 18:25, 28 November 2021 (UTC)
- Agree on all counts. My first thought is something in the first half, say the last bit of the instrumental march and into the opening lyrics -- what did you think? Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 11:44, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
- Heh, or the end of the slow portion and into the fast par -- there's plenty to choose from! Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 11:46, 30 November 2021 (UTC)

Any first impressions yet? Happy belated (American) Thanksgiving by the way. Tkbrett (✉) 14:12, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- Tkbrett Same to you! I watched each ep day one. Overall, it was very insightful and clears things up for many fans. I especially enjoyed seeing them play songs they'd record later, such as "Back Seat of My Car", which I did not realize was written that early. But then the convos they had, esp betweeen George and John regarding what would become their solo stuff, just makes you wonder what could have been if they had taken a year off then came back. I also will say, "And then there were two..." had my in tears no joke. What did you think? – zmbro (talk) 14:20, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- Great stuff. The images were very powerful – especially the "And then there were two ..." moment you mention. I had listened to a lot of the bootlegs for years, as well as read through a book by Sulpy and Schweighardt describing and editorializing the available audio, and I felt I thereby had a good grasp of what went on. Now, I have to say that the imagery throws a lot of it out the window, and makes me feel the S&S book really misses the mark. As for the documentary itself, I found it more enjoyable as it went on, with the second "episode" much more enjoyable than the first, and the third like a trip to the mountaintop. In my early teens I watched the rooftop performance part of Let It Be over and over, so it was an absolute delight to see it in stunning quality with much better editing, not to mention finally getting to see and hear exactly what the police were saying. Tkbrett (✉) 18:19, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- Tkbrett Exactly what I thought. The second episode was definitely the best. I do wish as a whole it was more exciting but I guess that's the point – recording an album isn't always the most exciting thing. I agree seeing the entire concert instead of just the 15 min Let It Be snippet was just awesome. I'll definitely be replaying that again. – zmbro (talk) 02:15, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

Berlin Trilogy for good topic
Now that every album in the Berlin Trilogy (and the Berlin Trilogy article itself) is a GA (with Low being a FA), would it be best to make Berlin Trilogy a good topic? Realmaxxver (talk) 13:05, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- Realmaxxver My main concern with that is will/should that include the Isolar II tour and Iggy's The Idiot and Lust for Life. The last two are FA and GA but the tour article is nowhere near done. I guess if it'd be called "Berlin Trilogy" no, but if it was something like "David Bowie's Berlin era" then it would have to include those. – zmbro (talk) 02:18, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Zmbro: I am thinking of just the three albums in the trilogy + the article on the trilogy itself. Realmaxxver (talk) 21:57, 12 December 2021 (UTC)

Please refer to MOS:VAR and WP:ALBUMSTYLE#Style and form for maintaining existing styles on pages that do not currently use this template [my emphasis]."
- ALBUMSTYLE#Style and form states that a straightforward numbered list is the preferred approach. As with the presentation of any information, we only need to use more intricate formatting when the level of detail requires it – or, as is stated there, in "more complicated situations". So your use of track listing templates at Automatic for the People is similarly unnecessary. JG66 (talk) 03:43, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
Riverfront Park article GAN
Just because the Riverfront Park article was nominated by an IP editor doesnt mean it doesnt deserve the chance to even get looked at by a reviewer. I nominated that article months ago patiently waiting for a reviewer to come along and you shelved it for absolutely no reason just before it was about to make it onto the oldest nominations list where it would be more visible and seen among the hundreds of other nominations. This article was nominated by a registered user before and it took a similar amount of time to get someone to review it and unfortunately when someone finally came along he missed it, and now we are back at square one thanks to you. I am pretty infuriated right now. I wrote the majority of the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho Good Article and nobody felt the need to quick fail that nomination based on whether the nomination was done by an IP or not. I thought if the article looked worthy enough for consideration, someone would eventually take the time and do their due diligence to see if it actually met the Good Article criteria, and in that case I wouldnt need to worry about registering, but obviously I was wrong about that. They might as well ban IPs from making GANs because it seems like nobody will give the article a fair shake anyway unless its done by a registered user, otherwise its quick failed without even looking at it. For your information, Ive been editing continuously since the nomination on my area of interest at the moment, which is Spokane-related articles, but it doesnt show because I have a dynamic IP address and it doesnt accumulate on a single account/IP address. For personal reasons I never thought it important to register until recently since decided to make a Commons account so I can contribute to the project by illustrating the articles with pictures and as a bonus possibly nominate the List of tallest buildings in Spokane, which I ended up doing. I truly doubt it will make any difference to your future actions, but I just wanted to let you to let you know that you ruined my day and if another well written, well illustrated, 118,000 byte article with 187 inline citations comes across your eyes, please dont quick fail it just because. I was looking forward to taking a break after that GAN since Ive been getting burned out doing this, but now Im going to immediately nominate this again under my new username. Thanks a lot... 2001:5B0:4FC0:90A8:1D96:5B4:316:84D3 (talk) 02:58, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
- My apologies. I was under the impression that IPs couldn't nominate GAs but I must have mistaken. I can request over at WP:GAN that it be put back in its original place. My bad. – zmbro (talk) 03:58, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
- I didnt know something like that was possible. That would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. I will continue waiting for a reviewer and maybe if possible put it under my new registered username so it might not get passed up again. Think I was a bit too harsh, I can see why you would think it was unattended especially after the last nomination, but I would have hoped someone would at least do what Larry did and ask if anyone is around before the nomination was shelved. Just food for thought in the future. Thanks again! T85cr1ft19m1n (talk) 05:14, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
- T85cr1ft19m1n It's now reinstated. Sorry again for the misunderstanding! – zmbro (talk) 13:51, 29 December 2021 (UTC)

Why revert edit on Queen Bitch?
Hi Zmbro, Just wondering why you removed the mention of Queen Bitch being used on the soundtrack of The Best of Enemies? Its a great movie and the song is definitely used in the movie. No doubt you have a good reason to revert the edit. Just wondered why. Regards Steve H. 1.43.42.203 (talk) 04:28, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
- Hello Steve. I removed it because you didn't provide a reliable source that states its inclusion in the film. The ones that are currently listed are sourced which is why they appear. Also, it wasn't linked properly. If you have a reliable source feel free to add it back. Hope this helps! – zmbro (talk) 16:10, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
