ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

edit

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:10, 19 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Why was the 1977–1980 Florida orange juice boycott page deleted?

edit

I understand that it was created by a user who violated rules against having multiple accounts(?), but does that really necessitate the deletion of a well-written, well-sourced page on a clearly Wikipedia-worthy topic that's existed for multiple years? 141.211.175.51 (talk) 15:32, 23 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately yes, those are the rules. Personally I'm not overly keen on that rule either, but without it the people who evade blocks will be encouraged to continue doing so. WaggersTALK 15:36, 23 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Is there a way I could somehow re-create the page, ideally using what was already written as a starting point, or would that trip anti-spam filters? 141.211.175.51 (talk) 17:19, 23 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
There are a couple of options. If you create an account I can put a copy of it in your userspace for you to work on, but it would probably need someone to review it before it gets moved back to mainspace. Alternatively if you head to Wikipedia:Deletion review and open a discussion there, the community might decide to restore it straight back to where it was.
