Your VandalProof Application

edit

Dear Imnotminkus,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact with the new 1.2 version release it has even more power. As such we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that for security reasons, VandalProof's creator requires it's users to have made 250 edits to articles, which you have not. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again in the not too distant future. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. Your revert to Wikipedia:Introduction

Why did you revert that back to when the page said "WIKIPEDIA IS NOT RELIABLE ..."? Just wondering.

It seems I reverted only one edit when there were three edits that should've been reverted, or I probably could've just cleared the test section and replaced the "please leave this line alone" comment. Thanks for pointing it out. Minkus 22:09, 5 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Huggle / Osney Bridge

edit

Hi there, I noticed that you reverted this edit as vandalism using Huggle this morning. I'm not sure how you concluded it was vandalism; as you can see it was actually an anon doing rather a nice job of cleaning up the references and putting them in to citation templates. I've used Huggle in the past and know how fast and furious it can get but may be if you could just slow down a tad and perhaps see past the "IP" you wouldn't get false positives. It's better that a bit of vandalism is live for 10 extra seconds than a potentially productive contributor gets scared off the project. Kind regards, Nancy talk 17:46, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Whoops, sorry about that, and thanks for catching it. That was actually the first time I used Huggle and I was still trying to learn how to use it and what all the shortcut keys are and everything. I'll try to be more careful about that in the future. - Minkus (talk) 18:43, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello Minkus,

I write regarding the Shoulderstand link removed from the subject entry. Could you please give me a little more details why you deemed it inappropriate? I think the article in the link is an unbiased source of information on the topic, that is not of a commercial nature.

I've seen a lot of unreliable web pages being linked on Yoga articles in Wikipedia, sites that present erroneous or, at best, superficial information. The magazine where my link appears has been in publication for over 30 years, and it offers a perspective on Yoga that is very different from the majority of the relatively new publications talking about this subject.

I would greatly appreciate if you also advise how I can avoid having my links labeled as spam in the future. I am sincere in my wish to make good information on Yoga and Meditation available to the public, as I'm troubled by the widespread misconceptions and ignorance on this topic.

With kind regards,

Pedro (yogboy)

Hello Minkus,

I have created a WP Prominent Rajus to mention famous people in Rajus an Indian community. I had used that convention to specify only famous Rajus of Rajus community. I have taken other encyclopedia as reference: http://www.statemaster.com/encyclopedia/Prominent-Rajus
http://en.allexperts.com/e/p/pr/prominent_rajus.htm

But this user C21K(talk) is consistently moving the WP Prominent Rajus to List of Rajus though I have given the strong reason of using such convention.

But as Prominent Rajus is the keyword more often used to search. I suggest it to be like that.

Request you to involve in this issue n resolve it. Also request you to see the previous record of C21K(talk). Let me know If I hav followed wrong naming convention in this matter.

You are now a Reviewer

edit

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. —DoRD (talk) 16:35, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Kenneth E. Patton

edit

The article Kenneth E. Patton has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unsourced BLP, fails WP:POLITICIAN; no references that show notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Tassedethe (talk) 23:55, 14 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ohio Wikimedians User Group - Invitation

edit

Hi Imnotminkus,

I'm Kevin, one of the founding members of the Ohio Wikimedians User Group. Created in July 2016, we're working to be a central group of Ohio Wikimedians who organize and support offline events, promote the Wikimedia movement in Ohio, build connections throughout our state, and above all, support each other. We already have a handful of members and have worked to support multiple events, including Wiki Loves Monuments in the United States and several Art+Feminism edit-a-thons at universities throughout Ohio.

I wanted to reach out to you and invite you to join the Ohio Wikimedians User Group. Being a part of the user group will allow easy communication between active Ohio editors, notifications of upcoming events in the Ohio area, and, if you're interested, the opportunity to help organize events such as edit-a-thons or workshops. Some notes:

  • All members receive a monthly newsletter with recent happenings, upcoming events, and more. Check out our April newsletter here.
  • This Thursday at 8:30 EST, we're having our first online meeting. Check out our meeting page here for more details, an agenda, and a section to sign up if you'd like to join us. Topics will include introductions and brainstorming for future projects.

Right now we have a Wikipedia Takes Columbus photo event going on, a Wiknic coming up this summer, and opportunities to attend the upcoming Ohio Private Academic Libraries Conference. If you're interested in joining us, feel free to add your name here - and feel free to reach out to me (or post on the user group's talk page) with questions or discussions. Thanks! ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 07:33, 18 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

2019 US Banknote Contest

edit
  US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.
