Disambiguation link notification for May 22
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Central Park, Sydney, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page SBS (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

You are a funny one, my friend.--Saruman-the-white (talk) 07:06, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
- Lol, I'm just experimenting with the montage, but I agree with your sentiments... the Japanese garden photo was superior. I'm just happy that you're not as rigid as the other Australian editors, as soon as something they like is replaced (usually something that has been there for years), they immediately revert it and refuse to debate the changes. It's all about compromising :-) Ashton 29 (talk) 07:10, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
- Lol I was worried that I was being too much of a dick. Yeah the garden one was nice. My thinking is just that since we have so few pics that we can do in a montage (an idea which I didn't like to begin with) the pictures may as well show a variety, both of locations ie throughout the metro area which the article was about ie CBD, river, bay, buildings, and also a variety of subject matter eg nature, man made blah blah. Anyway back to work my friend nice chat ;)
- Do you know why the South Bank parklands had a black bar at the bottom of the photo every time I tried to add it to the montage, though? Ashton 29 (talk) 07:21, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah this was the same problem I had when trying to make the original montage fit together. The bloody pictures have to be a certain standard ratio (ie length as to height) which is the standard ratio for photos. It appears that pic may have a ratio that is different to the standard one (whereas a normal one may be 2:3 with 2 being height, 3 being length; this one may be 2:4) ... I don't know the exact ratios, I'm guessing -- but that is the principle. As such, if a photo is too tall, there will be black space remaining to the left and right, and if it's too long, there will be black space remaining to the top and or bottom. Luckily at least 3/4 of photos on wiki do fit that standard ratio but it rules out the minority that don't really fit.

- It is still clearly a WP:close paraphrase. Are you intending to work on it, or are you done?--S Philbrick(Talk) 19:54, 14 August 2014 (UTC)
- The content that I used on that article was taken from another Wikipedia page, South Australian wine. Whoever edited the content I lifted is responsible for the plagiarism. I had no idea that the content on that page, in the Mount Lofty ranges zone section was from an external source and if I had known I would not have used it. 2015 Adelaide bushfires
The page that you have created for the recent fires in Adelaide is of very good quality. However, I would like to know why it was not named as "2015 Sampson Flat bushfires" as that is the name generally associated with these fires. They were named after Sampson Flat as that was the ignition point of the blaze. I gather that the fires spread beyond Sampson Flat, but from what I gather, the pages created for Australian bushfires are based on the common name used by the media, government, fire and police services, and general public. I would simply like some clarification as to your naming choice. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nick Mitchell 98 (talk • contribs) 05:30, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

- Thanks, although when I view it on my mobile in Wiki mobile the black bars on the montage seem to take up too much space on the right side. It's bugging me, because it's fine on the web! Also, you're right about the rotunda, I'll fix that. Ashton 29 (talk) 10:42, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

- Oh yes! In fact, I'd probably be MUCH less polite about it than you are. But as I said, other than suggesting various drugs, there's nothing useful I can do about it.
- But being more useful ...
- In past such situations, I have made a posting to the talk page describing the problem, and preceded it with the {{help}} template. I've been pleased with the responses I've received - one particularly obscure problem ended up with 3 very knowledgeable/experienced editors working together to solve the problem, and eventually, they DID solve it. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 11:24, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

- In future I'll probably just avoid looking at it on my phone! - Ah yes! The "ignorance is bliss" approach. Well, that approach does work for the majority of the population ...
- Should ... - Entirely up to you, depending on how much of a problem you think/feel it is. But I'll comment that if it was bothering/annoying me, that is exactly what I would do. (Particularly give that you have "smoking gun" evidence to add to your "complaint"). Your choice. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 11:58, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 23
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Blackrock (film), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Australasian. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi
I was wondering if you would be able to help me make a new picture display for Brisbane?--Fiftyfires (talk) 03:04, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
- I normally just use the standard Wikipedia layout for infobox montages. However, a lot of the Australian editors are very rigid and they are super quick to reject any new changes to articles or subject matter they fawn over. Ashton 29 (talk) 04:38, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

Please stop labelling substantive changes as being "minor"
Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Nick-D (talk) 05:47, 10 May 2015 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Jetstreamer. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Air New Zealand Flight 901, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. File:Sydney Harbour during Vivid Sydney 2015.jpg
Good find. Covers the bridge, Opera House and Circular Quay from an angle that gives some depth that is lacking in images from the other side of the harbour. --AussieLegend (✉) 13:25, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, I thought it was a great shot. Ashton 29 (talk) 02:08, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
Montage
I like your skyline photo which is beautiful, and I prefer your bridge photo, but I think its 2 against 1 regarding the Queenslander (not my idea, btw). I think it is perfect as it is unique - most aus cities dont have their own unique architecture style. Queenslanders are the rowhouses of Brisbane, filling the older inner city suburbs like Paddington, Spring Hill, Red Hill, Bardon, Ashgrove, Hamilton, Ascot, list goes on. its just as iconic to us as brownstones are to new york, for instance.--Saruman-the-white (talk) 04:34, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
- Fair enough. It certainly is beautiful architecture. At least you Brisbane guys invite change in your montage/article. I've tried to change the Melbourne one for years now, with no luck! They've got an awful skyline picture over there that does the city absolute no justice, yet they are so quick to revert any attempts to "better" it. Ashton 29 (talk) 00:54, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah I've long wondered about that. The skyline pic is about 10 years old and it's so dark it could be any city. A photo from Williamstown which shows the full length of the skyline would be much better. Further they could add a few more photos to the montage too I think. Oh well......
- I like the way you think. Williamstown would be a great vantage point. Not only is it too dark and nondescript, but there's way too many colours that it almost looks photoshopped or edited in someway. The one of Federation Square is average at best too, so little of it can be made out because again it's too dark and detailed for an infobox. Ashton 29 (talk) 01:49, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

"University of Adelaide people" rename
Hi Ashton 29, I see that you have moved page "List of University of Adelaide people" to List of University of Adelaide alumni with the edit summary "More formal title, sounds better". As an alumnus is a graduate of an institution, are you proposing that others on the list (Chancellors, Vice-Chancellors and notable staff), who are not graduates of the University of Adelaide, should be removed and listed in a separate article? Cheers, Bahudhara (talk) 03:30, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

Hello Ashton 29. I wanted to let you know that I restored your recent edit (re: the Sydney Metro) to the List of metro systems (though with a revised reference). That was a new development, so I felt it needed to be looked into first. But it all seems to check out, so I've restored your revision. Thanks for keeping us updated! --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:16, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
