editInterracial marriage brittctodd and I will be adding a new section on the benefits of Interracial marriages.
Benefits of Interracial Marriages go beyond the involvement of two people who are romantically engaged with one another. Interracial marriage gives diversity within a family system, open communication for individuals to cultivate so they can have greater depth, and views of people within our world. Through interracial marriage the couples identities in a culture and as individuals intersects with each other, strengthening their self image and identity both as individuals but also as as a married couple and a family system. (Thompson, 490). Interracial marriages and couples do not view their marriage as an interracial marriage, rather they view themselves as a couple and as individuals who love each other (Thompson, 493). This perspective on their own relationship can affect how they see others that they come in contact with in their life or different races, as well as how their children could perhaps view other people of different races. In return, this can prevent the initial biases, prejudices, and typical stereotypes that have become a part of society. Interracial marriages engage not only the two who are romantically involved, but include both sides of the families, children they have together and friends within their communities. Interracial marriage gives you the opportunity to embrace people beyond your own comfort zone or understanding, “Supporting interracial marriage is seen as a vehicle for expressing equality and acceptance of all others.” (Dunleavy, V. 2004)

Improvement suggestions
This article was a great overview of this television show featuring Jessica Simpson. However, I think more information and detail could have been given to the reader in regards to the shows episode context. A brief definition or summary could be placed next to each episode, giving information about what the episode is focusing on. This would give the reader greater knowledge and understanding of which episodes to watch. Sincerely, Cweber10 Cweber10 (talk) 01:19, 31 January 2013 (UTC) [edit]
Good Additions for Article
The article already existing on The Price of Beauty gives good information to the viewer about what the documentary is about. However, it could add more to the article if it discussed what the documentary discovered. Good additions could be what each culture thought beauty was or how they differed on what beauty means. This would give the viewer a greater understanding about the differences between cultures. Thanks, Brittctodd (talk) 01:19, 31 January 2013 (UTC)Brittctodd

Intercultural marriage advantages Summary: On "Interracial marriage," we will be adding information and improving their existing article. They already mention and cover intercultural marriage complications, but they do not mention intercultural marriage advantages. We will add to this article the advantages intercultural/interracial marriage can have within individuals personal relationships and also within a family. After this article is improves by us, there will be further information in regards to both the pro's and con's of intercultural marriages, instead of just the complications. Brief description of our plans: We plan to add to the existing article on Interracial marriage, but provide insight and add Comparing and Contrasting evidence for the benefits and advantages of Interracial marriages instead of just the complications. We will be able to do this by looking at various articles and getting information that support this idea. Cweber10 (talk) 18:55, 13 March 2013 (UTC) User:BrittcTodd [edit]

Hi, I am in the 11:50am intercultural communications class. I really like that you chose Social Penetration theory, this is a great theory with a lot of information to cover, give examples for, and explain thoroughly so people can understand the depth this theory has. I'm not sure what part you changed or added? The objective theory I believe? However, this topic and article has so much to expand on so great choice! Cweber10 (talk) 18:31, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

cweber10 Great job! There is a lot of clarity here and great points here. I copied and pasted your addition. The part in italic I believe could be worded a little differently. I know what you are trying to say, but I had to read the sentence a few times to understand it.
I really like the distinctions you made about interracial couples and how they view themselves. It is very true that a single interracial relationship will affect a multitude of friends and family, and that is a great thing!

Hello, I am from the 10:40 intercultural class. I really enjoyed reading the information that you added to interracial marriage benefits. I agree with Lcollins09 about the one sentence in italics, but other than that, i really enjoyed it.I am really intrested in this subject matter becuase alot of my friends and family date outside their race. If you decide to add any other information, i think it would nice be to hear specific exmaples in which the couples thrive from this interracial marriage. For example, how does interracial marrigae differ from interracial marriage?/ what are interracial children exposed to that other children are not?/ etc. Great job. Aflemington11
Hello Cweber10, after reviewing your insertions, I thought you might benefit with some type of comparison between the advantages and troubles interracial marriages experience in America verse other nations. Great job! Kabrown12 (talk) 18:10, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

editHi Caitlin, I really enjoy what you have chosen to talk about. Interracial marriage can be quite interesting. I feel it would be good to talk about the benefits and the down falls of interracial marriage. Maybe talk about the common races known to fall into the categories of interracial marriage. Great work good luck on finals !!
