Read Before You Post

edit

When writing on this talk page, please give any new sections a header using the same formatting as I have done here. Additionally, please make sure that the header is relating to the specific issue or article you are writing about and not the month that you are writing on my talk page - this allows me to prioritise what needs my attention most (i.e. articles of which I am a project member).

Secondly, when writing on my talk page, please make sure that if it is not a notification (i.e. a merger discussion or deletion etc.), that any criticisms are kept constructive and that you tell me if there is anything I can do in future to improve on this issue (i.e. Telling me how to format something better or how to nominate articles for deletions correctly etc.).

Thirdly, messages of thanks are welcome on this talk page and so are any questions which you would like to ask.

NOTE: People who post without following these guidelines will have their posts deleted from this page.

The Months of African Cinema Contest Continues in November!

edit

Greetings,

Thank you very much for participating in the Months of African Cinema global contest/edit-a-thon, and thank you for your contributions so far.

It is already the middle of the contest and a lot have been achieved already! We have been able to get over 1,500 articles created in over fifteen (15) languages! This would not have been possible without your support and we want to thank you. If you have not yet listed your name as a participant in the contest page please do so.

Please make sure to list the articles you have created or improved in the article achievements' section of the contest page, so that they can be easily tracked. To be able to claim prizes, please also ensure to list your articles on the users by articles page. We would be awarding prizes to different categories of winners:

  • Overall winner
    • 1st - $500
    • 2nd - $200
    • 3rd - $100
  • Diversity winner - $100
  • Gender-gap filler - $100
  • Language Winners - up to $100*

We are very excited about what has been achieved so far, but your contributions are still needed to further exceed all expectations! Let’s create more articles before the end of this contest, which is this November!!!

Thank you once again for being part of this global event! --Jamie Tubers (talk) 10:30, 06 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of 2018 Calais migrant violence

edit
Notice

The article 2018 Calais migrant violence has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The topic of this article violates WP:NOTNEWS and does not pass WP:EVENT criteria: the event was not significant enough for more than a day or so's worth of news coverage (WP:CONTINUEDCOVERAGE), or a depth of coverage (WP:DEPTH), and it did not have demonstratable impact after the event (WP:LASTING).

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. @Woofboy: Perhaps it would be more worthwhile to WP:MERGE the contents of the article into Migrants around Calais under the history section rather than to delete the article entirely? I currently do not have any time to do this myself, however I do not believe anyone would object to this and so could be done without discussion. Perhaps you're able to do this. @Woofboy: As I did not receive a reply from you, I went ahead and summarised the information and merged it into Migrants around Calais as stated above and have set the page to redirect there. Chieftain Tartarus (talk) 13:53, 11 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
