Fixing Wellington article and Wellington City article
editTwo articles about Wellington City? a short one with the correct name and a long one with the short form, that is ambiguous? The legal geographic situation is that Wellington City exist as multiple areas of meshblocks and area units, and Wellington Region exists as an aggregate of 8 multiple T/A's. Wellington Suburb is newly proclaimed by Wellington City Council, and shouldn't offer any issues. Greater Wellington is an aggregate of 4 T/A's ( a community of common interest). I suggest that we have 4 articles, with each one appearing on the Wellington disambiguation page, but I imagine you will collectively prefer longer names: Wellington Region, New Zealand or something like that? please comment before this escalates too far. moza 16:50, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
merger with Suburbs of Wellington
editseems a bit superfluous to have this article with a listing of Wellington suburbs and a separate article that says the same thing; I think to make the topic less fractured, the best thing to do is just bring the suburb map across to this article. Kripto 03:33, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Map
editWhere did the suburb boundaries come from? I grew up in the eastern suburbs and most of what is labelled Melrose I would say is Kilbirnie or Lyall Bay. Also, Moa Point (as a suburb rather than a geographical feature) should go round the coast as far as the airport. --Helenalex 21:24, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- it's (a) a bit bewildering, (b) pointless, (c) imposing, in the sense of people who smoke at bus stops, not in the sense of Mt Rushmore, and (c) the kind of thing that looks like someone was paid a lot of money to do something unneccessary, yeah? Yeah. Then you won't be surprised to learn this is the work of the Wellington City Council. This is their official suburb map. Kripto 21:37, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Misleading title
editThis article is about Wellington City. It is not about Wellington City Council. The word council should be removed. This is part of a patten of deception where searching for Wellington lands users on a page about Wellington urban region that includes several adjacent cities in an attempt to inflate the size/importance of Wellington. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.93.160.7 (talk) 19:51, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
No mention of City Housing?
editHi, I came here to find out which councillor is currently in charge of City Housing, and was disappointed to see that not only is it not listed (or clearly indicated) on the Council's own list of portfolios, but City Housing isn't mentioned on the article at all! Seems an important insight given that housing provision is one of the Council's most important and notable activities? (Wellington has more council housing than any other city in NZ except Chch, and the most per capita) Elcalebo (talk) 08:17, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
