Merv Griffin had many guest co-host like Wayne Newton.
Running gag
editMy memory of the show is a bit hazy, but I seem to recall that it had a running joke involving Griffin showing off the (usually extravagant) linings of his suits. Can anyone confirm that? 68.146.8.46 20:08, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
reruns and money
edithis shows wre made with little reference to dates or restricted to tv shows that were hits at the time.. he knew long before that reruns could earn alot of money if people saw them as not reruns so he tried to keep down talking about todays dates or todays super shows knowing that in 3 years any referenced show might be gone.. he raked it in by doing this. few knew they were indeed enjoying a show from 3 yrs ago..he tried to keeo his loo the same too.. while carson made shows using dates griffin avoided it.. and nobody kne that every month there were reruns filtered in ..after finishing the shoe for good he actually said no goodbye no nothin. he just see you and the next day came only reruns for so long a time .no body relaized it and he earned fortunes.. clever he was . — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.32.211.192 (talk) 12:56, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
Clarifications
editI have recently made some clarifications regarding the end of the show on CBS and its return in syndication via Metromedia, complete with sources. Basically: Griffin didn't secretly sign a contract with MM prior to CBS canceling the program. And, CBS didn't cancel it. Griffin and CBS mutually agreed to part, then Griffin signed with MM. Griffin did his last CBS show one month before moving back to syndication.
User:BlueboyLINY seems to believe that these changes are non-constructive and has reverted them to his factually-inaccurate "preferred" version. He has also put back in s couple of source links which were deleted from my last revision when he reverted, and now seeks to claim credit for them. If there is a reason for doing so, please explain. - In order to fix the errors you restored back when you undid my edit. (ie: my WP:WCAG edit). I was left with no choice but to revert your edits. I then restored the citations using the proper template. I don't understand where you get claiming credit from. BlueboyLINY (talk) 02:21, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
