There's a complete online version here. Since the book was published in 1954, and under Crown Copyright, it's now out of copyright in the UK at least. (UK CC is 50 years from publication.) Should we link to it at the foot of the article? 86.149.0.249 16:07, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Published 1954?

I am currently standing at a second-hand book sale and there is a copy here printed in December 1948. I may be able to upload a photograph later. Any ideas? -- 2001:630:53:B75:7E61:93FF:FEF7:E5AD (talk) 17:08, 16 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Apparently my image host is on the banned list, so here's a paste containing the image links: http://pastebin.com/YunRHCCj. - 2001:630:53:B75:7E61:93FF:FEF7:E5AD (talk) 17:23, 16 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Overhaul

edit

In the wake of the new edition of the book, released last week, I propose to give this article a thorough overhaul and expansion to do Gowers's classic work better justice than the present scant page. As the new edition is titled Plain Words – rather than The Complete Plain Words, which we are told in the introduction to the new edition Gowers came to consider a poor title – would anyone mind if I moved the article to "Plain Words", with a redirect from "The Complete Plain Words" rather than vice versa, as at present? – Tim riley (talk) 20:32, 2 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

No objection - I moved it in the first place as "The Complete ..." was the then current title. It makes perfect sense to have the main article title match the most recent edition. pablo 21:12, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
