Artificial dwelling hill: the most common English word?
editI just merged this article with the previous separate article on terp, which is one of the possible names for an artificial dwelling hill. I was wondering whether this name is the most common name? Artificial mound is similar but this term excludes "dwelling", or?--Brz7 10:02, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- Artificial dwelling mound is maybe an option but not common on the Internet. Maybe in the literature on this topic? References would be needed. --Brz7 00:11, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Requested move 22 January 2016
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: moved. No opposition to the claim this article is the primary topic. I'm going to splice the dab page and leave the dab history at Terp (disambiguation) and the non-dab history at Artificial dwelling hill, which will redirect to this article (ping me if you would prefer another title for this alternate history). – "Artificial dwelling hill" is a description not a name and is rarely found in the literature. Having researched the various names given in the lede, it is clear that "Terp", which was a separate article before being merged here, is the most common name in English. It is twice as common as its nearest rivals, "Warf", "Warft" and "Werf". Meanwhile the current "Terp" article is a dab page where only one other link is actually called "Terp" and that appears to be obscure slang from the music industry. - Comment the former article located at "Terp" was eliminated in January 2007. Perhaps the edit history at the current disambiguation page should be split at that point. -- 70.51.200.135 (talk) 11:18, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
- Comment. Lol. Far too technical for me! --Bermicourt (talk) 12:17, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
- A request can be made at WP:SPLICE if the admin (and it would need to be an admin) who closes this isn't able to. -- 70.51.200.135 (talk) 05:57, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

- Support. Nothing on Terp (disambiguation) really competes for the primary topic; most items are partial title matches or acronyms (TERP should continue to redirect to the dab page). The current title is quite contrived. However, apart from this 2007 revision by Qwertyus, that only lasted for 7 days, there is nothing in the history that suggests that an article on hills has occupied this page. On the other hand, Special:Diff/127915119 from May 2007 seems to be a semi-copy-paste move of the same material. Anyway, an admin will likely sort out histories (transplanting that one revision?) if we find a consensus for the move. No such user (talk) 13:50, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
- Comment. How about Terp (mound)? QVVERTYVS (hm?) 16:53, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

- In case anyone is interested, the funky page history was caused by an incorrect histmerge that made a bit of a mess of WP:PARALLELVERSIONS. Jenks24 (talk) 10:18, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
