Sponsorship

edit

The race is no longer sponsored by or named after Cutty Sark. I've just participated and I don't remember the new sponsor's name, thus I think the new official name is just the Tall Ships' Race. The article ought to be renamed appropriately. PeteVerdon 09:16, 13 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

According to the website of STI (www.sailtraininginternational.org), the official name is now 'The Tall Ships' Races' Jotzt 18:34, 7 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

The list of ships having taken part in the race needs to be updated. Since the 1960 Oslo ~ Oostende race (in which I sailed on the Belgian merchant marine training ship "Mercator"), there have been many hundreds of ships involved. Perhaps the list should be broken up into class/handicap divisions, or be just a list naming the winning vessel for each year. Kiwi Kousin (talk) 19:34, 6 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Contested deletion Category talk:Yachting races

You should know about this and comment. One of our editors has systematically depopulated it (from this article perhaps, and among many others), and thinks that is a good reason to delete it. 7&6=thirteen () 14:00, 26 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Winner of first race 1956

edit

The winning ship was the Moyana. However, on their return journey to the UK the ketch was caught in a storm off the Cornwall coast and sank. Mercifully all the crew were saved. 2A00:23C4:E65C:A201:6407:D7B2:D0FD:1E0F (talk) 08:24, 31 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
