History
editThere is some history behind why we have tablecloths. I heard once they had something to do with the idea that a man might be overcome with desire at the thought of a leg by seeing a table leg, so they needed something to cover them up with. Needs investigating I don't have time for right now though >.<

It is a myth - although one that is widely believed by many, including those who should know better. They were used as decoration only (often to cover a table that was in very poor condition), nothing else (a bit like putting a cover/carpet on the toilet seat). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.30.52.26 (talk) 23:39, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
