Speedy Deletion

This page has analogues in two other languages which are quite extensive. If more rationale for keeping it is needed, contact me. -Oreo Priest 18:42, 19 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Translate the Dutch page

The Dutch wiki is the most extensive off all and is very high quality I think it should be translated into English Jhowie_Nitnek 16:57, 15 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Move page to Saint Verhaegen

edit

Saint Verhaegen is the full name while St V is the shortened name. I think it would be better if the full name is used in the title. Jhowie_Nitnek (talk) 19:52, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jhowie and thanks for your suggestion (which I am only seeing now). I agree and will move the page accordingly. The only argument I could see against this move is that 'St V' holds the advantage of being the same in both French and Dutch, so as to maintain language neutrality. I guess that is why the article's original writer went for this name in the first place. However, I do also believe that the full name is preferrable to the shortname and 'Saint Verhaegen' in English is consistent with Brussels' naming conventions, so as to not cause any confusion. Hi Jason Lagos I think Saint Verhaegen is neutral as "Saint-Verhaegen" with a - is the French name and a hyphen isn't used in English in saint names Jhowie_Nitnek (talk) 19:53, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I agree again and am planning to rename it without the hyphen. ;-) Jason Lagos (talk) 19:57, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

St VSaint Verhaegen – I am starting a move request to retitle this article to 'Saint Verhaegen', as suggested above by JhowieNitnek. This is the event's full and common English name, and is preferrable to an abbreviation. This is also consistent with Brussels naming conventions. • Weak support on the basis that the current is too WP:CONCISE and ambiguous (there are many saints with names beginning with V). As well that this article has many terms used for it, but the proposed seems to be neutral in terms of languages to be preferential in the absence of a WP:COMMONNAME, while sources may choose one language name or the other. Although it appears this is a holiday, so ideally "day" should be added, but appears not always used in sources. DankJae 10:00, 24 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
