She is born in bellary

edit

Lakshmi Rai is from Bellary like that of Prakash Rai. But the article says she is from Belgaum which is false and misleading.

This shows that Wiki is a place for all wrong information and has no value and should never be taken as a reference for any purpose - even as a toilet paper. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.92.66.156 (talk) 02:27, 30 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Kindly read the refernce first; she born in belguam not in bellary; and don't remove the language scripts, it is a common practice to add language scripts in wikipedia articles.

Birthyear

edit

Her birthyear seems to remain a topic to discuss. One or more user(s) are continuously changing her birthyear, not to any random year, but always to 1981! And indeed many many other sites, incl.

  • 1,
  • 2,
  • 3,
  • 4 and
  • 5 among others

do quote her birthyear as 1981. Hardly none of the above sites seems to be a reliable source, though. Oneindia itself, which published the news that says she was born in 1989, seems unreliable, as they themselves quote her birthyear as 1981 here. So there is uncertaintly about this issue. I myself would rather believe she was born in 1981. Most Indian actresses (and any other females) won't disclose their age or birthyear that easily, Wikipedia is the one to suffer from this. Johannes003 (talk) 17:16, 21 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

The only reliable source to find correct birth year of Lakshmi Rai is her official Facebook and Twtiter pages. Her official website is under making and actual resume will be published with Lakshmi's autograph. Actual Date of Birth is 05-May-1989. And if wikipedia and other website ask for reliable source with sufficient information, then it's possible by contacting using Facebook, Twitter or her official website form. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Worldoflakshmirai (talkcontribs) 18:57, 6 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Mentioning Caste

edit

Dear Editors!
There has been a discussion on India Portal related to mentioning of caste of subjects. The point is that mentioning caste of people, who have nothing to do with their caste, is found to be unnecessary by few editors. Hence the caste of the subject person needs to be deleted from the biography. I am not deleting the caste as of now but am only posting this here so that the regular editors of this article are well aware of it beforehand and no edit-wars take place. For details of discussion held on the portal please refer Wikipedia_talk:Noticeboard_for_India-related_topics#Mentioning_caste_of_Individuals. Your views if any are welcome there or even here.
And.... as the reasons of exclusion of caste pointed out were "irrelavant to notability of subject person", "privacy of the subject person", "inclusion of caste is like branding individuals", etc. other information included in the article which also fall under these cases will also be removed after discussions. Examples of it included religion, non-notable spouse's and children's and parents' information, previous occupation, lived in places, non-notability related educational qualification, etc.
Your views on this are also welcome here or at the India portal. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 13:32, 2 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Not here, please. There is a community discussion taking place at WT:INB and I would advise people to read the entire discussion before forming an opinion because the above summary is incorrect. Nothing more need be said here. - Sitush (talk) 01:41, 4 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Lakshmi RaiRaai Laxmi – The actress has changed her name from Laxmi Rai to Raai Laxmi a few days back. A reference for the name change is included in the article itself. 42.104.62.115 (talk) 14:36, 7 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Support - I normally urge patience with recent name changes. It often takes a bit of time before we can ascertain whether reliable sources accept the new name (ie use it when referring to the subject) or reject it (ie continue to refer to the subject by the old name). In this case, however, a quick scan of Google News shows that the name change has been adopted by reliable sources. The sources written after the name change took place are indeed using the new name when referring to the subject. Blueboar (talk) 12:20, 13 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

An OTRS ticket is not a published source

edit

I'm not sure if this should require an explanation for experienced editors and administrators, but apparently it does. A central point of Wikipedia's verifiability policy, specifically described in the WP:SOURCE section, is to prohibit the addition of material based on unpublished sources. An OTRS ticket is not a published source. If there are reasonable concerns about using other sources, the disputed material should stay removed until a consensus for its inclusion is found (WP:ONUS/WP:BURDEN/WP:BLP), although the mere existence of an e-mail saying otherwise may be unsuitable to justify such a concern as well. WP:BLPPRIVACY could be relevant. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 23:39, 24 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Indeed thanks for the clarification @ToBeFree. I've been looking at the OTRS as the conclusive source for the DOB and is simply inaccessible similar to that of offline sources, but not as something unpublished! Now looking back, I'm the disruptor — DaxServer (t · m · c) 08:18, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
