Request for corrections
editI am a founder member of the Portsmouth Sinfonia and owner of its copyrights and archive.
This article has a couple of inaccuracies. The bit about the Schuman and Grieg piano concertos is incorrect and should be removed. The Portsmouth Sinfonia have never done this.
Symphonia should be Sinfonia
Adrian Rifkin was not a founding member of the Sinfonia, but was present at the first concert
The above assertion is not sustainable, Adrian Rifkin was in his first year of teaching at Portsmouth when the Symphonia was founded and is playing the first violin on the floppy disc given out for the degree show, as well as playing in the Purcell room. The Symphonia was founded as the result of a conversation between him and Gavin though Gavin was the prime mover - this something a student might not have known! If Adrian is absent from the first picture with the Pier at Southsea in the background it is because he was orchestrating the image with the photographer. The original entry did not include the fact that Michael Parsons invited the PS to the Purcell Room, a move that effectively saved it from immediate extinction. gaisavoir

Playing Competence of the Members
editAccording to an interview with Brian Eno, there was no criterion for playing ability - and some of the members did play instruments with which they were competent. The (Wikipedia) article implies that this was not the case. See [1]. 82.29.215.250 22:00, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

editOn the second page of this NY Times article, there is some discussion of Portsmouth Sinfonia. [2] --Larrybob 21:53, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
