Proposed merge with Eric Breindel Award for Excellence in Opinion Journalism

edit

I'm looking for any substantial sources for this award, and I'm finding nothing. Almost every source I've found is a brief mention in byline of a journalist who has won the award, or a similar passing mention. The award's own site seems acceptable for a couple of sentences here, but anything else will need WP:SECONDARY sources to establish WP:DUE weight. Grayfell (talk) 04:56, 5 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

You are not serious are you? Google produces secondary sources. Here are a few examples of three different types:

Yes, I saw those. Those congratulating their own journalists for winning are not independent of the award, and the Post one is a brief mention. It's also closely tied into the award, as Breindel was an editor of the Post, and the award is granted by its parent company. The student survival guide and cubreporter.org entries are very routine listings, similar to listings for other non-notable scholarships. Both of those repeat the award's own press materials. These are not really sufficient for establishing WP:GNG, although they could be of use in expanding the award's article. Grayfell (talk) 08:49, 5 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
If that is your attitude, you should make a proposal at WP:AFD.-- Toddy1 (talk) 12:05, 5 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
My attitude? The award article has never had a reliable, secondary source in nine years. I looked with the intention of fixing that, but didn't find any that seemed usable to me. The ones above appear to me to be too run-of-the-mill to establish due weight. AFD crossed my mind, but merging seems like an easier way to address the article's problems.
