Not a revolt against the English rule
editQUOTE: The region was the centre of the Moplah Uprising of 1921. The armed uprising, an independent move towards British, was brutally eliminated by the Colonial government END OF QUOTE.
Mappilla Lahala was not an uprising against the English rule in the subcontinent. It was rather outbreaks of attack on the Hindus (Brahmins) and their henchmen (Nairs), and the subordinated populations who were their supporters or slaves by the converted to Islam lower populations such as the Cherumars, Makkathaya Thiyyas etc. in South Malabar. It actually commenced from around 1832; it continued till the early decades of the 1900s.
Since the place was under the English rule, the administration had to deal with this problem as a law and order issue. It was not a revolt against the English rule.
