It reads:"After he was declared sultan, Ahmet III went on the hajj and did not return home to Istanbul until 1706." Three years in hajj during the turmoil ? Although the statement is sourced I couldn't find a second source to back the claim. On the contrary, the sources focus on Ahmet's efforts to passivize the jannisarries.
