"From 600 BC through the 20th Century crucifixion has been used as a method of execution." I think crucifixion kinda went out of style after the Romans adopted Christianity. Soviet troops crucified some people in WWII, but it wasn't legal, it was officially discouraged. Can anyone think of any other instance of crucifixion between around 500 AD and the 1940s?-LtNOWIS 03:36, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)

The crucifixion article suggests that it may be still being used in parts of Africa. Evil MonkeyHello 03:41, Apr 20, 2005 (UTC)

Abuse Template

edit

It is wrong to catagorize this as abuse under NPOV. If you disagree, then we can discuss here. Execution itself is not abuse; some methods may be, such as the electric chair, but that belongs under the individual article.Daemon8666 16:55, August 23, 2005 (UTC) It is also possible that you intended to mean execution in the illegal sense (such as Stalin's executions), in which case murder would be a better link, or perhaps a section on executions carried out in a manner that doesn't go with the flow of the article. As it is, the current article focuses on legal execution, leaving the template looking very POV.

These article is about "legal" execution, but these "legal" executions are viewed as abuse of power. Country which lagalise execution under some circumstances is abusive. So it can be considered as "abuse of state power". Btw. that template is currently listed under WP:TFD but it will be saved. If in this template is a link to this article, so change the template. Template with link to this article should be here. - Darwinek 20:18, 22 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
Not all executoins are abuse of power; I will remove it from the template and conduct the (probably) necessary debating there. Daemon8666 16:55, August 23, 2005 (UTC)
Although I agree with you that countries should not use capital punishment, I also think you are pushing a point of view by having the abuse template on this article. Evil MonkeyHello 22:51, 22 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Focus

edit

Much of the potential content for this article is already covered under Capital punishment - isn't it inevitable that the focus will therefore be on extra-judicial execution? TheMadBaron 00:56, 27 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Map is out-of-date

edit

At least Iraq is out of date on the map we provide people, can somebody fix this and hopefully doublecheck on any other countries that seem out of place? Much thanks! Sherurcij (talk) (bounties) 15:11, 29 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
