eggs back in the water, also carp tackle

edit

I doubt the bit about it being necessary to bury the fish to keep eggs from being released into the river. If a dead fish was dropped into the water, it is unlikely that the eggs within the fish would ever be fertilized, even if they were fertile at the time. But I did not edit that because it sounds like it might be in reference to a law they have in Australia. Stranger and stupider laws have been passed. Is there an Aussie who can edit this or provide a cite?

I did not add a cite for my statement that highly specialized tackle has been developed for the pursuit of common carp, because I could not figure out where to cite that wouldn't seem like an advertisement for someone. Carptracker 00:53, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Relationship to Carp

edit

There's a similar article Carp that doesn't link to this article. And this article doesn't link to Carp. What's the relationship between the two? Should they be merged? Or should Carp be considered the generic article and this about a specific subspecies? --lk (talk) 03:22, 19 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Against Merge Mirror Carp, I do believe, is a mutation from a common carp, and is considered separate, even if similar. The fact that the article needs more content isn't relevant to this issue. PHARMBOY (TALK) 21:44, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Mirror Carp is not a mutation, just the expression of recessive alleles. Mirror Carp information should be merged as it is a variant of the species Cyprinus carpio Xyrtex (talk) 20:33, 4 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Caspian Sea

edit

The Koi article says "The common carp is widely believed to have originated from the Caspian Sea ". Should this be incorporated here? (although it's not cited, and a bit weaselly) Rojomoke (talk) 10:39, 17 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

edit

I intend to add an external link to the article to the GLANSIS Fact Sheet: GLANSIS FactSheet

I am repairing a number of links on behalf of GLANSIS that were broken after web upgrades. Thanks, Greatlakesavenger (talk) 17:31, 10 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

@Mike Peel: I think this edit is obviously incorrect. Invasive Spices (talk) 19:15, 7 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Invasive Spices: OK, looking again, I've restored it here, and removed it from Carp and Category:Carp. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 19:44, 9 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
