Net worth

edit

I added "Citation Needed" beside the "net worth" part of the quick facts box. Apparently he's worth $100 million... really? Just from syndication rights and book sales? Where does this figure come from? Should it just be deleted?

The figure probably comes from here: https://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-celebrities/authors/bill-watterson-net-worth/ Paul F Villerius (talk) 20:23, 31 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Do we need support for this? If so, I might be able to find support info. Robservations247 (talk) 01:09, 31 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Foreword for Lynn Johnston

edit

In the career section it says…

“Watterson wrote forewords for FoxTrot and For Better or For Worse.”

There isn’t a reference yet. I’m new to editing Wikipedia and I’m not sure how to see when the content was added. Robservations247 (talk) 02:09, 31 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Child

edit

there appears to be evidence that around 1996 him and his wife had a daughter named Violet. From what I've seen, she's a Victoria secret model. Of course, like everything in his life it can't be confirmed or denied Titanic4151912 (talk) 06:43, 7 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

"Unfamiliarity with the Cincinnati political scene"

edit

The source material does not seem to support this interpretation of why Watterson's polical cartoon career was cut short. In the cited interview, Watterson states, "I cultivated an interest in politics, and Borgman helped me a lot in learning how to construct an editorial cartoon" and then goes on to detail the personality conflicts between him and his editor. While Watterson does acknowledge, "obviously, if he wanted a more experienced cartoonist, he shouldn't have hired a kid just out of college," I don't read Watterson having grown up in Cleveland instead of Cincinnati as the main reason for his departure from the paper.
