Position
editIs the "Position" line in the info box supposed to be former or current position? Right now it says Head Coach and Linebacker but if it is all former and current positions in the NFL then what about Special Teams Coach, Secondary Coach and Defensive Coordinator? "Unemployed" was added by somebody then removed by somebody else (probably assumed it was meant as an insult) but that would be accurate as to current position since he has no current position of employment. The "Position" line in the info box should be removed if it is meant to refer only to current position. I don't think it is current only but should all former positions be listed or only the most noteworthy? And what would determine noteworthiness in this case? All jobs held are already listed in the text. 75.33.75.2 10:39, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- It means, what positions did Cowher have in relevance to the NFL? I seriously doubt it means, "what have all his lines of employment been?". But, I think it's correct as it is; otherwise, the line becomes useless for any NFL coach/player who's retired. Patstuarttalk|edits 07:36, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
the Cowher '11 point rule'
editFor the last few weeks, sports analysts have enjoyed mentioning that the Steelers have almost always won when they achieve an eleven point or more lead in the course of a game. I've had some trouble finding out whether the current statistic is 102-1-1, but after the AFC championship, this statistic is definately going to have to be updated one way or another.
Mike Reid?
editWhy is that mentioned at all, let alone in the first paragraph? 70.49.126.200 04:09, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
---My guess is fans dropping in lines now after the victory. I just deleted "Known for their trick plays, they used one to win the big one. Roethlisberger handed off to Parker, who handed off to Randle El and Randle El found Hines Ward in the end zone. A perfect ending for the 2005 season for Bill Cowher and the Pittsburgh Steelers," which was tagged to the last sentence. It has nothing to do with his biography.--TKE
I seriously question the validity to the new third paragraph of the "Coaching Career" section. Why mention the offense of players except to triumph the team? This is a biographical stub, and I feel these interjections have no releveance. I would like others to weigh in. --TKE
Coaching record?
editAnyone have overall w/l stats for Cower? (it would be great to have some kind of template that includes this info for all coaches... I'm too much a novice to begin fathoming undertaking this...) 151.201.51.58 04:23, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
We need an image
editCan someone please put an image of Cowher on his page? 65.6.54.11 19:46, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- Done. Got the White House Photo. Patstuarttalk|edits 07:31, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Superbowl 40
editSuperbowl 40 was not Cowher's first championship.
- yes it was. He won the AFC Championship in 1995, but lost the Super Bowl. Patstuarttalk|edits 07:31, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Idea For image
editHe's on the cover of the videogame NFL Head Coach. Why not use that?
Cowher To Takeover As NC State Head Football Coach
editCowher To Takeover As NC State Head Football Coach
editIs Cowher looking to move to Raleigh to take over as the new head coach of NC State Football? Ask yourself... Family in Raleigh...yes House in Raleigh...yes Wife is from the Raleigh area...yes Both wife and Bill graduated from NC State...yes New High Profile Football Coaching Job available in Raleigh...yes. FIVE "YES" answers --- Guess Bill Cowher is going to NC State
Very interesting observation. However, could NC State "afford" him? In the NY papers, they are writing about him commanding up to $10m per year for 5 years. Unless, he truly loves NC State and wants to coach college and give up million of dollars, I'd say NC State is a dream. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.189.35.249 (talk) 18:42, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Why is there no mention here that Bill Cowher is also known as Sgt Slaughter?!?!?
cheating
editIt is totally inappropriate the someone wrote that Bill Cowher paid the referees in the Super Bowl, so I am taking that out of the opening paragraph. Close calls happen and whoever wrote that comment needs to grow up.67.186.25.137 02:40, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, that was vandalism, and was already taken out of the article before. Thanks for the heads up though ) Patstuarttalk|edits 16:53, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
Bill's Coaching Tree
editMarvin Lewis would fall under the Brian Billick Coaching tree with is a branch off of the Dennis Green. He didn't even coach with Cowher! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.161.65.193 (talk) 12:20, 10 January 2007 (UTC).

Successor
editUntil the final announcement is made on Monday, this field should be left blank. I think that this is just prudent so that Wikipedia will not be caught up in an embarassing gaffe if Tomlin isn't selected.
- Agreed. We did a similar thing with Donald Rumsfeld not too long ago. Let's leave it be; I know all the enthusiastic Steelers fans will be all over it, though, by tomorrow if it pans out. Patstuarttalk|edits 00:44, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- There has been no official announcement on their website, so these statements may not even be true, in fact this article says otherwise [1]. Darthgriz98 00:46, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- The Mike Tomlin article is a mess right now. I encourage anyone to go work on it. I toned it down a bit. Patstuarttalk|edits 01:02, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Where he grew up
editI noticed each time they mention where Bill Cowher was born they state Crafton. He may have been raised there but they never mention he lived in Beechview until he was maybe 7 or 8 and went to Beechwood Elementary School. I wonder why they never mention this fact? Jeff Fisher's broken leg
editThe idea that Bill Cowher broke Jeff Fisher's leg keeps appearing on Jeff Fisher's page as well. Jeff Fisher played for the Bears in 1984 and Bill Cowher played for the Eagles. The two teams did not play one another that year: Pro Football-Reference page Kevin28 (talk) 07:06, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
- I was wondering about this too, but it happened in 1983. I've added a better reference from the Fisher article[2]. --Bongwarrior (talk) 22:52, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

Coach
editwill Bill take head coaching job in Cleveland. Let's see if he has any loyalty to the team that gauge him his first coaching position. I challenge him to build a team from scratch. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.30.181.224 (talk) 21:18, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
