The year of publication

edit

At the bottom of every page of the description of Ostafrikasaurus "ORYCTOS vol. 10, 2011" can be seen. Doesn't that imply that the genus was actually named and described in 2011, not 2012 as currently stated in the article?--Macrochelys (talk) 19:55, 17 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Earliest spinosaurid?

edit

Teeth reported here[1] have also been said to be possibly the oldest spinosaurid teeth, in a paper more recent than Buffetaut's. Maybe worth a mention, for context. FunkMonk (talk) 16:44, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for bringing it to my attention! I wasn't aware of this paper, will add it to the article soon. It's curious just how early the origin of spinosaurids may have been. ▼PσlєοGєєкƧɊƲΔƦΣƉ▼ 17:16, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
The images are also free, I became aware of the paper because the teeth[2] were found associated with a Spinophorosaurus specimen, which I was writing about. Didn't some new paper also split spinosaurids away from megalosauroidea, or hint it was a possibility? Maybe Gregory S. Paul's old suggestion that spinosaurids were descended from dilophosaurids will be vindicated, haha.. FunkMonk (talk) 17:58, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

FYI PaleoGeekSquared, a new paper suggests that Ostafrikasaurus may be a ceratosaurid: [3] Lythronaxargestes (talk | contribs) 17:25, 29 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
